Explore chainmail in this hands-on session. You'll be guided step-by-step through making a pair of elegant drop earrings. Begin with learning a simple chainmail technique, gradually building up to more intricate decorative designs based on your comfort level. You'll also master the skill of soldering the earring post and base, adding a professional touch to your creation. With options to suit all confidence levels, this workshop is perfect for both beginners and those looking to refine their skills. Join us for a creative and fun-filled experience!
What will I make?
You will make a pair of drop earrings created with a chainmail design.
What will happen on the days?
In the first hour and a half, you will learn some simple soldering. Turning silver wire into a wearable earring base!
Then, you will begin to build the body of the earring onto your base. You will be learning a basic chainmail technique. First, Katherine will demonstrate the process using large-scale links which will make the technique clear to follow. You will then translate this into jewellery-sized links to build up the “drop” part of your earring.
Once you have reached the drop depth you want, hopefully, you will be feeling confident in the steps and ready to try mixing up the chainmail technique! Katherine will provide you with a few options of ways to decorate the end of your earring - ranging in complexity.
