FAQ

Do I need to have jewellery-making experience to participate?
No, it is not necessary to have jewellery-making experience to participate - all you need is enthusiasm and a curiosity to learn about the material! Basic jewellery-making skills will be demonstrated to assist participants.
What will I make at the workshop?
By the end of the day participants will have made two complete pieces of jewellery. These can be of the participant’s own design or designs can be provided. Each participant will be provided with 3.5 grams of silver and 10 grams of base metal for incorporation into their designs.
Are there any health concerns to consider?
Working with horn requires some health and safety precautions to ensure the safe working of the material. Of particular concern is the inhalation of horn dust produced while working horn, which is hazardous to the lungs if inhaled over a prolonged period of time. All participants will be provided with a disposable N95 face mask, which prevents the inhalation of 95% of all airborne particulates. Participants are expected to wear the masks while making takes place in the workshop.
