6 hours Class size 1 to 6 guests       £156 (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

In this hands-on cheese-making workshop, you'll learn how to create three different styles of cheese using traditional techniques. Throughout the day, you'll develop essential dairy crafting skills while preparing various cheeses, bread, and biscuits to take home.
This hands-on activity welcomes participants of all skill levels, requiring no previous cheese-making experience. The process combines simple ingredients with time-honoured methods – perfect for those interested in artisan food production.
During the workshop at Hen Corner, you'll be welcomed with fresh coffee and homemade biscuits before diving into cheese-making. Instructor Sara Ward will guide you through the complete process for each cheese, from separating curds and whey to forming and finishing. The organic recipes may include:
  • Hand-Stretched Mozzarella
  • Tangy Feta Cheese
  • Mould-Ripened Camembert
  • Rosemary Water Biscuits (perfect with cheese!)
  • Wholemeal Whey Bread
While your cheeses are straining and settling in moulds, you'll enjoy a simple lunch and have the opportunity to stroll around the garden visiting the chickens and bees, discovering how sustainable living principles are applied at Hen Corner.
By the end of this comprehensive workshop, you'll have created multiple cheese varieties along with bread and biscuits to take home in a goodie bag that includes detailed recipe sheets.

Whether it’s welcoming guests to our courses or working with schools, Hen Corner is bringing together the country and the city, helping you turn your urban corner green.
Over recent years Sara Ward and her family have transformed their Victorian terrace house into an urban smallholding allowing them to have the best of both worlds. Nestled in West London, they are living the good life complete with 20 hens, three colonies of honey bees and a fruitful kitchen garden.
Whilst Sara and the family continue to expand their hands-on skills, they train and encourage others through their schools programme, writing, and series of courses that are run from Hen Corner throughout the year. Be it preserving, cheese making, bee keeping or bread baking, there’s always something new that we can learn.
