In this welcoming Indian cooking class, you will learn how to create authentic Indian dishes in the comfort of your own home. Through practical cooking skills and cultural storytelling, you will explore the traditions, flavours and family recipes that inspired The Road From Karachi. This hands-on workshop will show you how to prepare each dish with confidence, even if you are a beginner.
The session will begin with an introduction from me and the journey of The Road From Karachi so far. I will then guide you through each stage of the cooking process, sharing techniques, recipes and the stories behind the food. You will discover how to bring the ingredients together, learn how to use traditional methods and enjoy this engaging activity at your own pace.
Once the dish has been served, you will enjoy your efforts as a group, much like a family would do around the table at dinner. The session is designed to feel supportive and relaxed, giving you the opportunity to build your practical cooking skills while connecting with the culture and stories behind each recipe.
Ingredients are not included and will need to be purchased prior to the session. This will be communicated to you after booking.
By the end of the class, you will have gained new skills, a deeper understanding of Indian food traditions and the confidence to recreate an authentic dish at home.

The Road From Karachi began with a family passion for sharing authentic Pakistani and Indian cooking. What started as a much-loved cookery school in the 1980s has grown into a way of preserving treasured family recipes, passed down through generations. Today, we're proud to continue that journey, bringing the flavours of Karachi to kitchens everywhere.
One of the most touching aspects of the story is how an old recipe book, once thought lost forever, became the "star of the show" decades later. What began as a practical guide for cookery students in the 80s evolved into a modern publication stocked in nationwide retailers such as Waitrose & Waterstones. The original cookbook appeared on BBC's The Repair Shop and was carefully restored to its former glory, bringing a precious piece of my family history back to life.
Having spent over 20 years in education, I love teaching. In my classes you’ll cook alongside me, ask all the questions you like and enjoy a lot of laughter. A recipe is never just a list of ingredients - it’s a way of sharing where you come from and introducing people to an unfamiliar culture. I’ll show you the little techniques my parents taught their own students and you’ll leave with dishes you’ll want to cook again and again at home.
