Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

Great value class, with all materials and tuition included in the price. Chrissy is so patient in her approach to teaching. Whilst the art of crocheting didn’t come naturally to me in the class itself, since coming home and practicing with the printed instructions Chrissy provided, it has finally clicked. I should have booked the beginner class but the teacher was extremely patient and took her time explaining and guiding us along. She also helped us to buy the relevant materials afterwards and with some practice at home I can now do a double stitch quite easily! Really enjoyed this and will be booking another session.

Had the grandchildren (ages 6 and 3) for a few days in Easter Holidays and needed to find activities for them taking into account the forecast of bad weather. This sounded suitable even for the 3 year old. The teacher was lovely, interacted well with the children and had lots of ideas for use of materials. Had never used air dry clay before but it was easy for the children to manipulate and fairly non-messy. Also came in lovely colours and could be mixed to create others. They had a great time making lots of little monsters. Was very good value for money, especially considering the amount of different materials provided. Will definitely book again.

Chrissy was a very good teacher.
Venue was good. We were able to see what the teacher was demonstrating and she could keep an eye on all of us.
Materials were suitable and the wool was lovely colours. The bag to take them home in was a lovely bonus.

My teacher was good, patient and gave me opportunities to make my own mistakes. She provided helpful advice regarding my intended first project. I think that the class should be extended for a further half hour; this would then leave sufficient time to practice stitching. Additionally using actual material would be good to exemplify tension.

My only comment was given it’s a small room I think it should be a max of one adult per child. There were 5 kids in our room and 8 adults… plus the teacher.

What an excellent introduction to crochet. The time flew by, i could easily have done another half an hour! Watford was a great venue and the teaching was superb. Chrissie was a very clear, patient teacher. Loved the materials and liked the fact we all had the same, so no competition on trying to change wool colour! Had a most enjoyable hour and a half and it's made me think of trying other workshops in the future. I think it was very reasonable value. I like the fact you gave written instructions to refresh our memories later - I'll need that! Thank you!

I was the only person on the workshop and an hour was just about right but if there were more people, she would have struggled to provide assistance. Quality of components was very good but the spooled wire was difficult to use. Floristry tape may be easier to use.

Nicki welcomed everyone to the room and was kind and caring towards their needs and confidence levels.

How was the venue?
It was a nice sized room, we were comfortable, but I did wonder about accessibility for others with mobility issues as this was upstairs.

If materials were provided, did you like them?
All the clay, tools and accessories were available. The clay was a lovely sensory experience- we brought more to use at home later!

We made clay Halloween characters. We learned how to use the tool to smooth the clay on the surface areas.

Being able to spend some quiet quality time with my daughter.

I had a wonderful time at the class, and even came away with what looked like a granny square! The materials provided were great for the class and practice afterwards, and even a bag to put everything in. I took the beginner crochet class previously, but was still struggling a little, and needed that expert help to talk me through it. I can't recommend this course and trainer enough for her patience, hints and tips, and I think it is finally sinking in. Pic attached is from my first 'solo' square.

Very good, Chrissie was very patient and helpful. There was a lot to learn but it was a good introduction to the stitches. I think I will need to practice at home to improve before I attempt the squares course. Very relaxing and had a few laughs with the ladies.

Great little activity. My 4 year old daughter really enjoyed it. Nicky was an excellent teacher and helped all the children achieve something they loved. Before I booked it I was concerned my daughter might be a bit too young for it, but once I'd helped her abit with her design, she was away. Would definitely recommend.

Christie was welcoming and friendly and showed our small group how to start and use two basic stitches. She gave us individual attention and suggestions when needed. An enjoyable workshop but over too quickly!

Today I did a Beginners Crochet Class with Chrissie.
She was amazing & very helpful.
We were provided with two balls of wool, a crochet hook, instruction print outs to get started & a calico bag to put everything in.
I enjoyed my class so much that I didn’t want it to end.
In fact I have just now booked to go back on Monday 21st to do the Granny Square Class.
Please, please Chrissie can you do more classes or get a group going.
And if you do more classes, maybe for longer time or stretched out over a longer period.
Thank You so much ☺️ I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Really fantastic craft, and my 8 year old daughter absolutely loved it. They are such great value sessions. This is our second one in 2 weeks. The teacher is lovely, and all the bits are provided in abundance when you attend. Absolutely brilliant, throughly enjoyable, and would definitely recommend.

Sioux gave very detailed and clear instructions. She was very friendly. Our machine had some issues and she was patient and keen on helping us figure it out. Overall very nice experience. Learned the basics of a sewing machine and we felt like we definitely got a hang of it! To be able to bring a friend with 5 pounds extra was amazing too.

This was my first Hobbycraft workshop, my instructor Christine was friendly, encouraging and clearly explained how to form each letter on the Brush lettering session. She guided and suggested ways to make the letters better or easier to make. There was a lots of laughter and the equipment supplied was great, more than I expected and I was also given a bag to carry it home in. The time whizzed by but I lelt feeling I had started my journey with brush lettering in a positive way and confident with a little more practice my adequate technique will become more accomplished. If the other workshops are as good as this one I will be trying out different ones soon, it was great value for money and very enjoyable. Thank you Watford Hobbycraft

I booked my 2 children (8 and 4) into the rainbow bead workshop at the Watford branch. The kids absolutely loved it! We were lucky to have a one on one with the teacher as we were the only ones in the workshop. The teacher, Vicky was brilliant with the kids and explained step by step what to do very clearly so the kids could follow.
They made beautiful rainbows which we were able to take home.
Great value for £5 each and the bonus- no mess to clear up afterwards

My kids had a great time doing this activity and a Nicky our leader was really lovely.
Missing one star only because I felt the time was a bit short and once my kids got settled with the activity we were already 10 minutes in! The end felt rushed, it should be 40-45 minutes at least.

Our teacher Chrissy was lovely, very patient and used different ways to explain how to work the stitches. The classroom set up meant she was able to walk around and give us individual attention when needed.
I made lots of progress during the class, particularly in maintaining the same number of stitches on each row. Before the class, I found this impossible!
I have kept practising since then, and I’d love to book a follow-on class looking at reading a pattern or working a granny square.

Our class was brilliant for our 3 year old and 2 6year old children. Our teacher explained and demonstrated each individule stage of making the small click and bunny and lent a hand when they became stuck. Really enjoyable course, Christie was v.approachable, accommodated 10 year old easily. She really enjoyed the course, all practical, got to keep pens, practice book and notebook. There was enough time in session with its good pace to learn, practice and then extend to applying brush lettering in other ways. Session was in a quiet location within branch,not on shop floor. Would highly recommend.

My husband & I attended the Brush Lettering for Beginners class yesterday. Our instructor Chrissy was very welcoming and knowledgeable on the subject. Made the instruction enjoyable and instructive. Ensuring that everyone understood how to complete the task before moving on.
The venue was good the space private. The items provided gave us all we need to practice and learn this skill.
We felt we got good value from this session even though the hour flew by.

Teacher very helpful. Crochet kit provided with 2 large balls of yarn, hook and detailed instruction booklet. Craft room was upstairs (not in the main store), so access to toilets. I made some progress and feel inspired to keep practicing. Very enjoyable morning.

As it was a small group, we were all able to get help and ask questions without having to wait a long time. Christine was able to answer queries raised and was very encouraging. The basic goals of the workshop were met in that at the end of it we were above to make a slip knot, crochet chain stitches and learnt how to do double and treble crochet stitches. Very enjoyable.

I think it would be useful to state what machine is being used so people could bring their own if it is not the same. However despite this the teacher kept reflecting back to my machine at each stage . I really enjoyed my morning due to the excellent teacher

The venue is still rather drab and uninspiring to say the least, apparently you can ask for a hot drink while you're there. The teacher is very good, and it's well worth the money.

Personally it gets a 6 out of 10, as there is so much more that could be done to improve the room and decor. Which needs a serious face lift in there.

The teacher was patient and gave everyone individual help needed. Pre-made examples were good to go by, but free to do something individual. Useful tips were given for a more professional look. I was easily able to do the rest of the baubles at home. I enjoyed this session so much I bought an extra pack of four baubles and figures to glue in them. I’ve gained praise for my baubles when I proudly show them off to others.

My group workshop was actually a 1-2-1 as I was the only person attending. Chrissie, my tutor, was so helpful and tailored the workshop complete for me so I got to know Design Space so much better. Looking forward to going home and consolidating what I’ve learnt, really worth the money.

We have been coming to various kids craft sessions at Hobbycraft for years. As always we thoroughly enjoyed todays session despite it being the trickiest one we’ve attempted. Nicky was extremely helpful (and we really needed it today) and as friendly as always!

We were so happy to be able to take part in a Christmas session as initially they were only running on weekdays which doesn’t work for school aged children. Fortunately, the manager listened to feedback from his staff and customers and changed the dates of the sessions that didn’t already have bookings! Hopefully next time all the sessions will run on the weekends so we can do some more of them!

I enjoyed the class very much. There were just four of us in a room away from the shop floor. We were given a box full of goodies to use during the class and for future practice. Our teacher Chrissy was very friendly and explained everything very clearly and was encouraging and attentive if any of us needed a bit of extra help. The course was great value and I have acquired a new skill to perfect.

Chris the teacher was brilliant. Would recommend this beginners crochet course to anybody. Room was good. We found the wool split easy while working with it but other than that the instructions and hook were fine for learning.

I went to do the Christmas embroidery hoops and it was a really lovely hour and a half. The classroom is up off the shop floor so there's no distractions. The course leader was knowledgable and helpful.
All of the materials were provided to make one hoop in class and three others at home. I could easily have spent the whole afternoon happily stitching away. The course leader made sure I was happy with how I would need to finish the hoops at home.
I would definitely recommend a class at the Watford store.

Overall the experience was well worth the money and for that alone it's worth it. The icing on the cake was appointing an excellent teacher. Who listened and adapted the workshop training session to lay the perfect foundation for the pupil to build from. It goes without saying that I will be booking another class as there was a lot to squeeze in to just one session.
As everyone is different and in my case after having two bleeds on the brain last September my recovery has been somewhat slower than I would have liked.

The teacher was sensitive to my particular needs and patient in both delivery and checking my understanding.

On occasions I requested for them to repeat a particular aspect so that I had full understanding and more importantly the depth of knowledge of if something didn't work one then trying another.

Those precious little nuggets that only those with years of practice can bring to the table to share with you.

Class was in a quiet area away from the shop floor, so there were no distractions or interruptions. Taught in a friendly and calm manner, and the teacher was very helpful making time for everyone. I really enjoyed it have a much better understanding of the basics now, although I would have been happy to pay more for a longer lesson just to ensure I was fully confident. Now that I've been practising at home I feel there are some things which I would like to ask or check again to make sure I'm doing them correctly, so a further optional session for those that have already done this course would be useful. All in all very good value and well worth the time.

Hello,I attended the Cricut class and to my surprise I was the only student. Christie my teacher was very good and she gave her instructions clearly as well as in simple language which I was able to follow. The placewhere we had a class was completely satisfactory. The only thing was that I personally who is not very computer savvy found it difficult to assimilate every thing in one class.

Excellent workshop! Friendly and approachable instructor. Clear instructions offered my 2 daughters - 4 year old and 6 year old were able to work independently once they had done the first model.
The group size of 6 worked well, my two were the youngest there. There was plenty of material to use. The clay was vibrantly coloured and easy to use. We bought some packs after the lesson to use at home.
The workshop is very good value for money we will definitely recommend them and will be signing up for more.

This was such a lovely class, my little one is shy but loves crafts and the leader was perfect with him. She included all the children equally speaking to them all differently depending on their needs. This was fun and relaxed and the end result was super cute. (Only slight issue was the class was up some pretty high stairs which I had to carry a buggy up.) Would highly recommend and have booked for more.

The workshop itself was very nice and great value for money. I've suggested it to friends already and posted about it on social media.

I deducted one star because I'm disabled and struggle to walk and at this particular venue I had to climb a long set of stairs to get to the crafting/workshop room, which caused pain to flare up. I think you should specify accessibilty options in your website, I would have chosen a different shop that suited my accesibilty needs better.

Really enjoyed this course and the bonus of getting my own goodie box of supplies was great too. I was lucky that I ended up being the only student on the course so had 1:1 tuition. Teacher was fab and very patient. Everything was explained clearly and went at a good pace. The hour flew by and covered everything I needed to know to be able to start Brush Lettering on my own at home. It's a good introduction to Brush Lettering and for anyone that's keen to learn this skill.

Thoroughly enjoyed the workshop. It was great fun and we learned different techniques in paint pouring. We painted 3 canvases and went home with two blank canvases and lots of paint to try at home. Would definitely recommend this workshop.

The teacher (Chris) was excellent.
Chris was kind in her approach but professional. She was very knowledgeable and able to explain patiently when I didn’t understand first time. I really enjoyed it being 1:1 as I could ask questions and was given lots of advice, demonstrations and help that was relevant to me.
The course was good value for money (£15) as I left feeling I had the tools to get to know my Cricut machine better.
I would highly recommend Chris and felt she was a fabulous asset to Hobbycraft.

Sioux (teacher) was very friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable.
More of a “watch and learn” workshop than “hands on”. Very helpful for complete novice - seeing how the Cricut Maker works and how to use with Design Space.
Sioux showed us how to make a paper flower and a 3D card, but was very open to questions about vinyls, mats, tools, iron-on options, stickers, etc.
Although a printer wasn’t available, she did also run us through the Print and Cut process, explaining how it works, and showing us her own past projects to demonstrate.
The class was very laid back and overran a little - but there was no pressure to finish, and it was nice to have a short chat with her afterwards about my own goals and interests with the Cricut. She was most encouraging, and honest about additional materials/tools I may need etc.
Very enjoyable and informative workshop.

1. I made the online booking a month in advance, easy to reserve and pay. There was a reminder from Hobbycraft which was very helpful.
2. There were signs and directions inside the Watford store leading to the workshop.
3. There was plenty of ceramic options to choose from.
4. Kim, our host was very helpful and my 5y old enjoyed his session.
5. The session is worth the fees and kids between 3-8 would enjoy.
6. Hobbycraft could review its online booking and marketing as we were the only people booked for this session, which is surprising given it being a weekend.

The session took place in a separate room so we could work without interruption. All materials provided, including glue guns which we never tried before. My daughter loved the session. Teacher was very welcoming, friendly and ready to help. Activity was really fun. We learned a new skill in making these hand puppets which we can now do at home ourselves too.

Sioux was a lovely teacher. The room was not huge and as this was a messy subject it was just as well I was the only "student" on this occasion. Thoroughly enjoyed the class, will be intrigued to collect the finished (dry) artworks in a few days. Very good box of art materials to bring home. Will need to rearrange/enlarge my home work space to really immerse myself in this subject.

I had such a good time. I created 3 pieces during the workshop and watched Sioux, the trainer, demonstrate different techniques for me to follow. It was great fun and informative.

An excellent short class especially for little girls in the art of air-dry clay. All the children enjoyed themselves and made very pleasing miniature models with the generously supplied clay and decorations. My six year old grand-daughter was delighted with her little monsters and would love to attend another class during the next holidays. Thank you, Chris for this excellent value activity.

Fantastic teachers, really encouraging & helpful. Great & plentiful materials & the room was a great size for us all to fit around the table & not be bothered by customers. Only criticism would be signage to the actual room was lacking & I had to get a member of staff to take me to the room. Other that the need for signage, it was extremely well organised, excellent staff & very good value for money. My child rated it “1000 out of 10!” for the class. Will definitely attend another one!

Chrissie, our teacher, was knowledgeable and answered my myriad questions very comprehensibly. There was a great deal of material to cover in one hour and I look forward to having further lessons when I buy my new machine.
The venue was not easily accessible for me as the room was up a flight of steep stairs.
We were able to look at a large range of Chrissie's own tools for the Cricut Maker, although the Cricut Maker 3 was not demonstrated and it was not 'hands on'. At £5 it was very good value for more than an hour's class and it convinced me that I would like to own the Maker 3.

I recently booked a workshop for the Cricut joy as I have recently purchased one and wanted to gain more knowledge being new to the world of Cricut. I had a lovely lady called Chrissie who even after the workshop is still helping me with any questions I have. She was fantastic and even let me design my one project to take home with me to finish. If your thinking about booking on if these sessions do not hesitate! Worth every penny and very good value for what you will learn. So happy I booked on and now feel confident to try iron on!

The presentation of these boxes are always lovely and the contents were brilliant. There was a good range of items - 6 brown crackers, 6 white crackers, good quality gold, silver, black and white paint marker pens, two types of twine, pack of wooden snowflakes of various styles (roughly 32 I think?). The teacher was great - she gave us some tips on how to create the best designs and had four of her own cracker designs to show us to give us some inspiration. She also gave good guidance on how to do particular styles of lettering on the cracker itself.

Would definitely recommend this as it was a lovely outing with my mother making something in the run up to Christmas!

I made the original wreath rather than the frosted one but wasn't aware when booking that there was a choice. Good teacher, great resources but 1 hour is not long enough to finish the wreath. You can, of course, finish it when you get home. Tea and coffee provided.

The room was bright and spacious. The lady helping was knowledgeable and very helpful. Tea and refreshments supplied were very welcome.
However my daughter and I opted for a frosted wreath and noticed a vast difference between our embellishments and the ones in the natural wreath box. We had white berries and a selection of foliage.

In the natural wreath option there were pine cones, frosted and white berries, a selection of foliage and some other natural embellishments.

For novices, I believe the workshop could be longer.

The teacher was very knowledgeable and gave some great tips. (Like using a dryer sheet to stop the snow sticking at the top of the bulbs).
The classes are small so questions are answered properly and you are not rushed.
Overall a lovely way to spend an hour and get into the Christmas spirit

Unfortunately I can't remember the name of our teacher but she was brilliant. She gave us some advice and the allowed us space to be as creative as we wanted to be. The kit was excellent and came with everything you could want to create your wreath - lots of lovey little pumpkins, berries, wooden pieces and the flowers. To my surprise the price also included a glue gun and a pack of 12 glue sticks to use in the glue gun. It was a lovely morning out with my mother and sister and we will definitely be signing up for another workshop soon. Good value for money
