Join a Hobbycraft Colleague in store for a One-to-one and ask any questions you have about crochet. Stuck on a project? Need help with understanding a pattern? Trying to get to grips with a new stitch? Our craft expert will share tips and techniques tailored to you.

This is suitable for crocheters looking for that next step on from our Beginners' Workshops, providing the opportunity to get all the answers you need. It’s a great way to gain confidence with your craft, troubleshoot any problems you’re having with your current project in an easy, direct way or learn about stitches you’re not as confident with yet.

During the booking process, you’ll have the opportunity to let your Artisan know what you would like to focus on during the session. They’ll be able to prepare for a personalised workshop that answers all of your questions.

You’re sure to walk away a crochet pro, ready to take your designs to a new level!

Bring a friend: You can now use the £5 add-on feature at checkout to invite a friend along with you, whether you’re working on a project together or you’d simply prefer having some company during the session. Your friend can enjoy any demonstrations given, and they are free to ask questions, but they will not receive the same practical, direct one-to-one support as is offered to the lead participant.

Keeping everyone safe

At Hobbycraft, we want our workshops to be enjoyable, inclusive, and safe for everyone. Some workshops are suitable for children, and where this is the case, a parent or legal guardian is responsible for supervising their child at all times unless the workshop is clearly stated as suitable for independent attendance. Our colleagues and instructors are there to guide the activity and support a safe environment, and if any concerns about safety or wellbeing arise during a workshop, these should be raised with a member of staff straight away.

  • 5/5 from Linda Crickitt, attended Sep 2026: This was my first attempt at crochet. The teacher was very patient (sorry I was concentrating so much I forget her name (Watford branch)). Having the 1-1 session was worth it, as I was able to ask my questions without anyone else asking and distracting me. Once I find the pattern I want and continue just practicing I will definitely book another session soon. Having these workshops is a brilliant idea. Don’t laugh but the photos I’ve shared is my first attempt on just practicing some stitches.
  • 5/5 from Robyn Bass, attended Sep 2026: The lesson was excellent and resolved all the questions that I had. Very good and knowledgeable teacher (Christie) Thank you very much.
  • 5/5 from Devyani Rao, attended Sep 2026: I thoroughly enjoyed my session with Chrissi, who, as many others have said, was incredibly patient with me. She helped me get back into crocheting, a hobby I had stopped doing many years ago. Over the years, I had switched to knitting, but after Chrissi’s class, I’ve decided to return to crocheting and rediscover the enjoyment I used to get from it. I would highly recommend Chrissi to anyone, whether you’re a complete beginner or, like me, someone looking to get back into crocheting and enjoy this wonderful hobby again. Thank you, Chrissi!
  • 5/5 from Liz Zeffert, attended Sep 2026: I have crocheted in the past but have completely forgotten all that I knew. Chrissi in Watford has amazing patience in fact I have booked another 1:1 lesson
  • 4/5 from Jane Gregory, attended Sep 2026: The teacher was very good and I understood and was able to put into practise the things she taught me. My one criticism, which is nothing to do with her, is that I don’t think an hour is enough time. I actually had a basic knowledge of crochet, and even with that the hour went very quickly - if I were a complete novice, I don’t think much would have been achieved in that time. As £25 for a hour is quite expensive, maybe an alternative would be to give an option to have a discounted two hour slot.
  • 5/5 from Bijal Patel, attended Aug 2026: Fantastic 1-1 session for beginner's crochet. My daughter throughly enjoyed it and managed to make a granny square in 1 hour! I would definitely recommend to a friend and will be booking for other crafting sessions.

Lovely teacher, highly recommended.

  • 5/5 from Kat Doherty, attended Aug 2024: The teacher, Christie, was lovely. She helped my daughter (age 16) with a kit she was given for her birthday that didn't have instructions, firstly by finding a pattern for the same thing and then by teaching her how to follow it & do the different stitches. My daughter has come away happy that she can continue making the bee at home and try some other things as well. The cost was very good for a one to one lesson with so much help given.
