Throughout the year, Hobbycraft host a variety of workshops in stores and online, designed to give everyone the opportunity to master a new craft or refine a long-time favourite. Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

Our teacher Chris was very friendly and supportive. It was a small group which was good because I could see if the range of abilities between attendees was too vast we might not have got very far. I didn't expect to leave with a hook and wool so that was great to practice with afterwards.

My friend and I had a fantastic time getting creative at the spring wreath making lesson. Our teacher was fabulous. Both informative and encouraging whilst making a wreath to demonstrate techniques.
We had a lovely time chatting, listening to music and creating beautiful wreaths to bring home.
Will definitely be looking to do other classes throughout the year.

We had such a lovely afternoon at Hobbycraft Truro making our own ceramic tree baubles using Pebeo marbling ink. Flint our teacher, was so helpful and friendly and we really enjoyed our session, having great fun creating and experimenting with different colours until we had beautiful decorations.
We would recommend this afternoon to anyone who wants a bit of Christmas joy or as a beginners class to marbling.

My 13 year old went with her friend, it was a birthday present.

The teacher was perfect, really targeted and taylored her approach to their needs.

The girls left the session with a bag containing their crochet pieces, instructions, a crochet hook and two large balls of different coloured wool to continue along their crochet journey.

One child was crocheting in the car on the way home and the other whilst on an exercise bike that evening.

Chris I believe her name is, was 5*** for sure. Very chatty and helpful.
The class itself was ok, I would have liked to see more resources. It was clay creatures but I would have liked to have seen pictures of ideas, what the kids could make. They ended up making a mixture of creatures and other things and I felt like the supplies were a little limited. I’m very pleased I didn’t pay more than £4 each, but I would be interested in future classes.

Really recommend the circuit workshop if you’re thinking of getting one. Very informative and all explained very well. I was a bit overwhelmed with how to set it up and use it but confident now it’ll be easier than I thought. Also didn’t realise it came with some of the features it does so handy to learn what it can do :)

The teacher was very good but no offer of drink. Or use of toilet. I found the wool to thick the lesson was very structured. The teacher showed us what to do and then watched us do it. Didn't take over. I am pleased the price was good as well

When I arrived my teacher had already set up the work surface and the machines. She managed to find my exact machine I have at home. The venue was OK, well lit and plenty of workspace. I was shown the different stitching programme, feeding the threads and how to use the different accessories. I had a go the feeding the thread, which was tricky at first but, with practise it shall because easy to do. What I liked most was the fact that how my teacher put me at ease by explaining how everything worked and using the actual machine, I feel now more confident. I am also able to book another session if I need more help. Being a beginner, the session was definitely good value for money to put me at ease so I can enjoy my new hobby. With my teacher's guidance, I was able to buy more accessories for my machine. My teacher was very courteous, provided all the necessary information and guidance and answered any questions I had. Thank you.

My grand-daughter thoroughly enjoyed this workshop, however instead of lasting an hour it only lasted about 15 minutes as by this time both she and the other child attending the workshop had completed both pots covered by the workshop. The leader did not give any information about how long the pots take to dry or what paints you can use to decorate them - I found this out by asking questions.

Basic materials provided and shown how to use them, would have been handy to have a copy of the instructions the teacher had for reference and list of other materials that could be used (useful for me as a beginner to crafting with little knowledge of products)
Setting not ideal in middle of top floor and chairs too low to use with table so spent 2 hrs stood up
Overall, a fun project & enjoyed the experience

I had a great time learning the basics of acrylic paint effects. Attending a workshop like this is a great way to give yourself permission to 'get in and have a go' in a way that you probably wouldn't at home. The kit provided was great, and I brought home some artwork and enough spares to have another go at home. The tutor was lovely - really relaxed and encouraging.

Great value for money!

Unfortunately the class was only booked by us - but that was great as it was a complete 1-1.
We were given two packs of clay and my daughter, 3.5 year old, chose which colours she wanted.
The teacher was patient and kind and allowed me to join in and make my own!

I feel there could have been a big beautiful event sign downstairs which would have attracted more people.

It would have been helpful to know where we were going a little more too, there were floor signs but when we got upstairs they led to a table which had loads of stuff already on it.

Overall we had a great time, good value for money and got lots of sea creatures :)

I had an absolutely fantastic one to one session on the cricut joy machine today, I can’t remember his name but the young chap who helped me was amazing, nothing was too much trouble and he was really happy to show me how to do different things on the cricut, and happily answered all my questions. I really enjoyed the experience and would definitely recommend this to anyone new to Cricut. Thank you! :)

Chris, our tutor at Truro, was full of enthusiasm and useful information and tips. She led us through the process in easy to understand steps, encouraging us along the way.
Although it was lovely to each have our own box of materials to unwrap, there was far too much excess packaging. At Chris' suggestion we used the cardboard box to carry our wet canvases home, but it was quite cumbersome. Perhaps some thought should be given to a smaller, more practical solution to this issue.
Overall it was a great introduction to acrylic paint pouring, at a good price and I would recommend it.

The teacher was very patient with me as I am a complete beginner but she made sure I could do each type of stitch before we moved on to the next one. She explained what all the terminology meant so I could follow patterns in the future.
The kit was well stocked and the instructions included were very thorough. Excellent value and very enjoyable. Many thanks.

Chris was very friendly and very easy to follow. It was quite hot as the air conditioning was not working. I think the chunky wool was a bit too thick to learn with but I picked it up quite quickly. I could also ask questions and were given good tips on how to do things.

The one to one cricuit training was excellent. Great value for money. Course leader was very knowledgeable and friendly and helped go through everything I want on the machine and how to set it up. Would considered doing it again to have assistance in future projects. She demonstrated what I ask fabric, vinyl, paper. She used samples to show the demonstrations and told us what to buy and what equipment you needed for each project. Very satisfied. I purchase a book that give you step by step instructions which was suggested and is really helpful for my project.

My kids loved this workshop. My daughter loves crafting anyway, but my son isn't a fan. Getting him to sit down and do anything crafty at home is a challenge and usually results in only half a job as he gets distracted and wants to do other things, but taking him to an organised workshop, he actually gets on with it and enjoys taking part.
The teacher/leader was helpful and extremely patient, especially as both kids talk non stop all the time.
We've done similar workshops in the past, and will definitely be doing them again in the future!

My sister & I enjoyed a brilliant workshop making baubles for Christmas. We were amazed at the box of goodies provided which included a glue gun, the baubles etc and a lovely variety of Christmas figures , trees & imitation snow. The teacher was lovely & as there were only four of us like-minded crafters we were able to share our enthusiasm & excitement without feeling embarrassed! It was surprising how much we were able to produce in an hour & couldn’t wait to go home & show everything to the rest of the family!
Now looking for something else to make so thanks very much Hobbycraft.

I recently bought a cricut air 2, without really understanding what it did, mainly as I was interested in buying a machine for our grand-daughter for Christmas, so I found the one-to-one class very useful. The teacher was lovely and showed me the basics and explained the various materials available, how to use the dials etc. with a few tips that she has learnt from her own experiences and also the tools I need to start making some cards, stickers for mugs, t-shirts, my husband’s cars & little houses for. Christmas decorations. Now really excited to start creating - thanks so much.

It was really good to have one to one tuition because as a novice sewer I learned a great deal more about the clever things my sewing machine can do when used correctly. I now have the impetus to have a go at making something with a little more confidence.
The lady (sorry, can’t remember her name)who showed me how to use the various settings answered all of my questions and gave me some useful tips and advice.

Many thanks to Annette at Truro Hobbycraft for such a great 1:1 class yesterday. She showed me everything I needed to know to use my new sewing machine and saved me hours of time, plodding through the manual. It was a great way of learning, to first watch what Annette did, and then to try it for myself. Annette also de-mystified a sewing pattern for me! I now feel confident to be able to start sewing and hopefully progress on from bunting to something more complicated! The class was excellent value for money and was very informative.
