Throughout the year, Hobbycraft host a variety of workshops in stores and online, designed to give everyone the opportunity to master a new craft or refine a long-time favourite. Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

This was a fabulous thing to do on a rainy day in the school holidays! Mel the lady who ran the class was lovely and my daughter really enjoyed making her little monster! Lots of tips and helpful hints on how to use the clay and we got to take some of the clay back with us to finish the monster off at home. There were plenty of materials available to work with too. Overall I thought the class was fun, really well thought out & ran very smoothly. Great value for money and definitely recommend to anyone looking for an affordable way to keep the little darlings entertained

It was a chance to get 5 of our 11 grandchildren together to craft. As it was a painting workshop and the children were 4yrs, 5yrs, 7yrs & 10yrs, I felt uncomfortable so close to the items on sale, incase they touched anything with painty handsThe teacher was very nice but a little more interaction with the children whilst demonstrating would’ve been nice. All in all though a lovely workshop with a lovely teacher. Thank you.

Myself and my partner attended a workshop over the weekend which was run by Lily in the Taunton store. Lily was very informative, so friendly and ensured we understood each step thoroughly before moving onto the next. As we were new to Cricut we went into the workshop not knowing a thing about it but Lily explained everything to us in such detail and after the workshop helped us select items that we needed. We will definitely be looking at attending another workshop in the near future and would also love for Lily to be recognise as an amazing asset to Hobbycraft Taunton

Learning how to use design space for my new cricut machine. The lady running the class was very informative and answered all my questions knowledgeably. She even showed me how to use the design space on my computer which i had brought along, the only issue was one of your ipads did not work correctly for the lady to demonstrate to me fortunately the second one did.

Fantastic lesson in bunting making and how to use a sewing machine. All Materials were provided. Showed me loads of simple hacks to make my sewing project easier. The lesson was relaxed and I came away confident in using a sewing machine. Pointed me in the right direction of materials and equipment that I needed.

I met Anna today who was very helpful in making me choose the right cricut machine for my needs. She was very polite and a very keen crafter. It was lovely taking to someone on the same wavelength as myself. Anna was very informative explaining about things you can make with the machine. Also explaining a little about cricut design space. Anna showed me how to operate my new hobbeycraft 32s sewing machine stitching straight zigzag and embroidery type stitching plus how to operate the buttonhole attachment.
She introduced me to a big specially designed bag to hold my machine too.
I'm glad I went but it seems expensive £16 to book a workshop when paying £145 for my new machine. Hopefully I can now get underway although it might take several attempts at threading etc as all machines are different. Thank you Anna as you were very knowledgeable and helpful too.

When I booked and paid £20 , I did assume the one to one would be in a side room from the main shop , but no it’s in the middle of the shop, so customers can also see / hear what’s said ,
The lady showing the machine did her best but as the printer was at the back of shop ( maybe in staff room ) I couldn’t see the stickers printing out ,, so alittle but disappointed really,,

What a fabulous morning I had with Karen from the Taunton store. She was simply the best! I was so looking forward to my class to learn to crochet and I wasn’t disappointed. I came away feeling elated and very chuffed at my achievement, having never done it before.This was solely down to my teacher; Honestly I couldn’t have had a more patient, kind, gentle and enthusiastic tutor, she was absolutely perfect at teaching and made for this role, making my morning brilliant.
I was given a very clear instruction pamphlet, a hook and two balls of yarn which I got to take home in a cloth bag provided too.
Amazing value for money and great fun in a shop that seems to be run by the loveliest staff too. Well done Taunton and thank you Karen.

Anna was an excellent teacher who clearly knows her way around a sewing machine. The table was set up at the back of the shop with all the equipment we needed. My girls really enjoyed their workshop and it was good value for money although I think a slightly increased amount of materials would have worked better as their clouds at the rainbow base were too small to hold the rainbow upright.

The teacher Mille was great - very knowledgeable about art in general and we had some interesting chats.
The venue was fine. A place to wash hands would have been useful.
The materials were great and it was a lovely surprise to find the course included a starter kit to do lots more paintings when I got home.
The experience was great value for money.
I learned the basics of pouring art and just enjoyed having my first go at this.

Brilliant workshop, spent an uninterrupted hour learning about free motion embroidery. Anna, the teacher, was full of useful tips, very friendly and helpful. The Singer sewing machine that was provided was a joy to use. I learnt so much that I am now confident to continue with free motion embroidery at home. So good that you offer these workshops locally, for me just 1/2 an hour away. Learning whilst doing it with a teacher is so beneficial to mastering a new craft/ skill. Great value for money, great experience, thank you.

No foam crowns left as all had been sold. Lady made card crowns which was good of her. Just had sticky round jewels and foam shapes. Kids enjoyed it but didn't have the variety of craft items I'd hoped for. More suited for preschool age.

Anna was very lovely and clearly very knowledgeable, however the set up for this ‘workshop’ was not at all ‘workshop’ like. We were expected to stand around the Cricut machines on display in the store with customers milling around and ask questions. When we asked if we could sit down to run through design space we were shown to a table at the rear of the store (still with customers around) and told that the internet was not working properly and there was no access to the tablets to work it. Thankfully I had taken my iPad and hotspot it to my phone to look at design space. Accessing the internet was not great and time ran out very quickly and we saw nothing of Cricut in progress.
As I said, Anna was very lovely so no criticisms there at all, but the whole ‘workshop’ was very disappointing and I left with more questions unanswered and even more frustration. It’s no wonder there are so many ‘as new’ Cricut machines up for sale, Design Space is not very user friendly, particularly with IOS products.
Definitely NOT worth the £20 workshop fee.

Lily was lovely and very knowledgeable and she answered all my questions. I asked to see a demo of what an intricate cut and a pen design looked like, the demo of cutting didn’t come out too well as cutting blades were not sharp but the pen demo came out well. There is so much about a cri-cut to discover but I’ve certainly been given enough information to start using the maker.I

The teacher Anna was great and has given me the confidence to start sewing again after a long absence. They gave me advice on different kinds of needles and feet for different sewing tasks compatible with my sewing machine. We looked at different threads, clips, pins, cutters and other accessories I might need to get me started,
Anna also inspired me with some simple sewing ideas for beginners using fat quarters. Anna was informed , friendly and knowledgeable and really put me at ease. We threaded the machine, practiced some stitches and looked at all the functions until I felt more confident. It was a good value workshop and I would definitely recommend it to others. Thank you Anna and Hobbycraft.

Very disappointing workshop, I made the mistake of expecting it to be as shown on your website. I know some stores have more space than others, but even crammed on a small table at the back of the shop would have been ok if it had been cleared of stuff (box, wreath, large roll of blue paper and too many signs), clean and not had a staff vacancy poster sellotaped to it. The sales assistant was cheerful as they all are in the store but I would not say we were given 'expert guidance' we just used the paper guides to draw letters with the pens. Also although the workshop was a 'Guide to Brush Lettering' there are no brushes involved marker pens are used.
So the workshop was not as I had expected and I felt even more disappointed as I had bought a place as a birthday present for a friend.

Hobbycraft box filled with good quality paper and pens. Felts don't go through the paper which is good as making big strokes. Teacher Tracey was pleasant, friendly and helped me with producing thick and thin lines. Still need practice but I've got the idea now.

The person who was due to run the class was unavailable so another team member had to step in. The lady who stepped in was really friendly and very chatty, but didn’t understand the instructions she was having to refer too, and hadn’t made this project before. It wasn’t her fault, she did the best she could under the circumstances. I was the only person signed up to this class.

Most enjoyable hour filling baubles, Susan the teacher was friendly and helpful. The kit was generous for the price I paid, lots of baubles, green material, fake snow and some berries and characters. Enough to take home and continue experimenting and filling the baubles. Although you may need to buy a few extra trees, berries and animals if you wish. A great way to spend a relaxing hour away from every day life allowing some me time. Thank you Taunton Hobbycraft and Susan.

The young lady teaching our group was very chatty and gave us lots of tips and ideas. The area we were sat in was a bit cramped and at one point a shopper with a trolly was trying to get through and was ramming into a display. The box of goodies was great, but not enough to go round, so some people were given substitute items. Overall I enjoyed the class and made quite a few decorations

I really enjoyed my session with Lily. She was a good teacher with good eye contact and listening skills. Lily understood what I was asking from my new standpoint.
She explained, demonstrated and encouraged me to try.
She pointed out merchandise but did not push me to buy but encouraged me to have a go at home.
I will definitely book the next session with her.

Enjoyed my time with Tracey learning about brush lettering today in Taunton. The equipment provided was really useful, and I got to take it home! We had a good chat and gave a few techniques a go such as doing individual letters, joining letters up, and trying a few floral designs too. A good hour had!

Brilliant workshop to make paper mache pumpkins for Halloween. My son loved it! It was great value for money. Mel was helpful and encouraging as a teacher. There was a great choice of materials to use. We then went and bought some more paper mache shapes after to use at home for more craft. Thank you Hobbycraft Taunton.

My Granddaughter and I visited the clay bats and ghosts workshop with teacher Lily.
We had such a fun time, my Granddaughter enjoyed it thoroughly and was super proud of her spooky ghosts,bats,spiders and Frankenstein clay models. We shall be booking future workshops for sure, a lovely way to introduce new creative hobbies to her.

Thank you for such an amazing class. The tutor was incredibly patient and kind. Lots of positive energy and encouragement. The little ones were given aprons, tools and lots of brightly coloured clay to make all sorts of creatures. We even learnt to mix colours together to create a marble effect. The clay was so wonderfully soft will certainly be purchasing some for our next crafty weekend. Thank you xx

generally good, the trainer was friendly, helpful and eager to help me, especially with a specific design I was trying.
It was vey difficult to see what she was doing with design space as it was on a tablet and was laid out differently to my pc and also the lighting was reflecting on the screen, so couldn't easily follow what she was doing.

Covered points Ied help with. Much better than a fixed plan. Shame the foil transfer was not available. Definitely will book another when I become more accomplished. Only negative - I personally would have preferred to sit down away from the middle of the shop.

I managed to get two people help me poppy the first half and then Lily the second half! Both were very knowledgeable about the circut! There were materials available to make a small item! Maybe a seated area would have been nice but it didn’t spoil the event! It really helped me to decide to purchase one :)

My teacher Kim was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. She explained things clearly and then supported me to have a go. She answered all my questions and gave me some great tips. She even said i could go back if I had any further questions. Kim is a perfect teacher and made me feel really at ease and confident. I can now use my sewing machine by myself. My 7 y/o absolutely loved the workshop. The person who ran it (Kimmy) was very friendly and my daughter felt like she could chat away to her.

All materials were provided. We were given two decopatch animals with everything we needed to decorate. This was excellent value for money.

My daughter enjoyed herself so much that we bought materials on the way out. We will definitely book again soon.

Great liquid paint pouring workshop. Lily explained everything in the kit, different techniques and methods to achieve different results. Great value for money, comfortable workspace in my local Hobby Craft shop, did one picture, kit to take home has sufficient for 4+ more. Thoroughly enjoyed myself and would recommend. Thanks. Today I had Anna from Taunton helping me with my cricut joy. She was absolutely amazing. Very patient and kind with me,a complete novice . I covered my issues mainly manoeuvring around the design space which I had found very good difficult even having been on you tube. We e also managed to cover vinyl work too. Loved the shimmer and bought some . Great value for money and will come again after I've had a practice. 5 stars

Ellie was patient and chatty with my daughter (nearly 8yo). She gave her a choice which item to do first and how to do it, and took the time to help when she was stuck with threading the beads. I got to look round the shop while they were crafting, bonus for me and bonus for Hobbycraft ;)
As the table was on the shop floor there were some interruptions as you’d expect but Ellie politely kept the class boundary whilst still being helpful to other customers.
Would definitely recommend and we’ll be back in May half term, thank you.

I would highly recommend attending this session if you are thinking of buying a sewing machine, lack confidence using a machine or you are a newbie to the world of sewing.
Staff are friendly and welcoming and extremely helpful and are open to tailoring the session according to your needs
The venue is ideal on every count
I have no complaints and cannot see any particular need for improvement.
I went away feeling much more confident about using a sewing machine and selecting the ideal choice of machine for me . I also gained a new found sense of confidence regarding my actual ability to sew!
I will definitely attend further sessions to help develop my skills and reach my ultimate goal of dress making

Highly recommend this workshop.
As an absolute beginner who wants to learn but hasn’t a clue, this was ideal! Kim understood exactly what I wanted to learn and needed to know , explaining fully not just the basics but also the possibilities. The workshops are great for me as I can learn at my pace. Miranda was lovely, very easy to get on with. I thought it was very good value for the money and I learned a few things I didn’t know. If I had one criticism it would have been better to have the demo area tucked into a corner, felt it was a bit awkward with customers wanting to go around you and also it was blocking the isle where all the vinyls are, other than that it was very good.

Took a Christmas wreath one hour course. Teacher, Mel inTaunton, was welcoming and informative. Helping us and encouraging. Venue is good in that it’s local with good parking, however could have been a bigger working space but it was manageable. The wreath set has everything needed and made for a good entertaining hour which zoomed past but was longer enough. I found it good value for money.

I really enjoyed the autumn wreath workshop at Hobbycraft Taunton today. Mel was a great teacher and shared her tips and techniques for creating a lovely wreath. The accessories were all the natural and sustainable materials which was nice to see too. We learned about decorative styles and placement of accessories and bow tying tips. Mel was helpful and did not rush us and we went through step by step at a good pace making together. It felt relaxed and a great way to spend a Sunday morning. I was really pleased with my finished wreath now on the front door. Great value for money with the kit, tuition and glue gun to take home. The table was at the back of the store where the workshop was held and felt just right for the style of session with me and another lady. A few people came over and admired our work which was nice! I would return for another course again. Thank you Hobbycraft Taunton.

So sadly I planned this event for my son to do whilst we was visiting his Dad. To my knowledge now they did not turn up and when I asked about whether or not I'm getting refunded I had no reply. To clarify, I'm not blaming Hobbycraft. £15 is just a lot to loose and I've no idea whether it was rescheduled or not.

Ellie was fantastic and I ended up buying a Maker. I went in knowing alittle about what the maker could do and came away mindblown. Ellie was clear in her demonstration, it was customer lead not machine lead, asking questions about what I wanted out of the machine not just what the machine could do. All my questions were answered answered with confidence. All accessories where in stock, the whole store was incredibly clean and tidy. All the staff were helpful when we went back in the store to purchase the items. The workshops are a brilliant resource, being able to see what the machine can do before spending a lot of money. Knowing that I can go into the store and ask for help is top class customer service. Well done Taunton branch
