Throughout the year, Hobbycraft host a variety of workshops in stores and online, designed to give everyone the opportunity to master a new craft or refine a long-time favourite. Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

Loved the crochet for beginners class. With just two of us and tutor Gabby, it felt very personal. It was so easy, the yarn chosen was perfect so we could see what we were doing. The instructions, written so we can refer to them at home and from Gabby, showing us in several different ways until we go the hang of it were excellent. Definitely recommended and I’m looking for another class.

Really enjoyed beginners’ crochet class. It was pitched at the right level & the teacher was very friendly & exceptionally patient. She ensured she spent time with all the participants & covered the class objectives with clear instruction & demonstration. The time passed very quickly & was very successful.

Today we attended a kids canvas printing workshop. The kids had a great time. Jackie was amazing! She was fantastic with the children, really allowed them to be creative and spoke with them all individually by name. She really is a credit to Hobbycraft! Our new artwork is already up on the wall as the kids are so proud of it!

I wanted to try out a couple of sewing machines with a view to buying one in the near future.Sharon was very helpful and good at explaining the workings and benefits of each.
I thought the 1:1 session was good value for money.

The Canadian lady doing our workshop was so lovely and really tried to think on her feet as the kits were the wrong ones for what we were making to be making which was a shame. There wasn't enough foliage for the wreaths and we were missing the little eggs for the nests.

Gabby was a really good coach and demonstrated stitches as well as watched and helpfully corrected me as i was trying them out.
I wanted some terminology translating on the patterns and she was just the right person to help me with this.
We covered all my queries within the time allocated and i found it very useful.

I really enjoyed the beginners crochet class. The tutor was friendly and patient. I felt no question was a silly question so could ask everything I wanted to with confidence.
Only negative was the hard chairs … perhaps a crochet cushion is in order!

Took my 2 granddaughters to the rainbow bead making class. They both enjoyed it. All the materials were provided with lots of beads available. The teacher was very kind and patient. My only observation would be that perhaps more guidance could have been given. For example the fact that the more beads you put on - the heavier the structure becomes and a little more difficult to stand up.

Just purchased a circut joy needed help. Jackie the teacher was lovely very helpful. Very good value for money. Think it would be helpful to have a sign up saying class in progress as customers kept interrupting. Learnt about design space. Will definitely return for another workshop.

Really great session for our 2-3 year olds. The teacher (Sue) was fantastic - very accommodating, helpful and kind. The venue was easy to find with ample parking and the workshop itself, located upstairs, was easy to access and had plenty of space for ourselves and our three little ones.
Overall it was great value for money with lovely materials - and plenty of them. Would definitely book again.

We had a brilliant teacher called Rebecca who was amazing with our 5 children who range from 5-13, 2 with additional needs. She took us through step by step.

We had an issue with another member of staff who said we couldn’t take the kits home for the snowman as they didn’t have stock. This woman was awful to Rebecca in front of us, and really put her down and blamed her for lack of materials.

I was there to learn how to crochet. Sue our teacher was very welcoming and friendly. She managed to get around to everyone to help them. I found it a bit distracting though as shoppers kept asking Sue where things were. So having privacy screens around the table would have been better. The wool and needle was good quality and was supplied with a bag which was a nice touch. I really enjoyed the banter and company of the other people on the course. They also helped me. Thank you to Sue for her patience as I needed a lot of help.

I was surprised that it was very much do what you want without any structured tuition. Also the wire that we were using was difficult to control and stop tangling up. An hour wasn't long enough to produce a decent result, I brought my wreath home to complete.

Really glad I booked this 2nd class. I did a first one which was an introduction and this second to help with some issues I was facing on design space with Save the Dates I want to create for our wedding.
As I was on my laptop and the tutor a tablet at first it was difficult to show the issues but the lady persisted and I left a very happy camper with my issues resolved.

Not as good as I hoped. 3 of us were left waiting quite a while to be shown how to do a new stitch as a strong character dominated the teacher’s time.
The teacher also said that she thought we shouldn’t be learning the treble stitch or have a large hook…but that was what she was told to to do.
Could have been more welcoming at the beginning as I wasn’t greeted with a hello and we weren’t asked our names by the teacher.

I loved the bag of goodies to use in the class, the wool felt really soft and the colours were great (grey and mustard).
The teacher was friendly, helpful and very very patient, she kept having to go around the table to do 1-2-1's with us all, without that i think i would have been stuck.
The venue was Guiseley, i always do my courses there as i enjoy the bright space for the course and with low numbers in each class its easy to follow.
The courses are great value for money, instruction is good and you can then venture onto the more intermediate or advanced courses.
On this occasion i learnt how to crochet with a double and treble stitch.
We were all beginners so progress was slow but i did finish my double stitch square so was very pleased, i shall definitely expand on this at home before i go back to learn a few more stitches.

My children enjoyed the beaded keyring workshop. There was a good selection of beads although some of the ones provided didn't have large enough holes to fit over the pipe cleaners. Some trays rather than small cups would have been helpful to be able to see the beads with less spills for small hands to deal with! But overall my children really enjoyed it and were very proud of their creations!

My 2 granddaughters thoroughly enjoyed making their wind chimes. The teacher showed them how to do each step and gave them ideas to develop their own individual look. It was a suitable level for their age and they went home very happy with their makes! The venue was fine, plenty of room.

We had a great time making a wind chime. Our teacher was really lovely and paid attention to all the children, spotting when they were ready to move on etc so that everyone could go at their own pace and not feel rushed to catch up or bored waiting. It was simple to make but effective and my daughter is really proud of hers. Well worth it - really glad we came and looking forward to trying out some of the other activities!

Rebecca was great, however the materials weren’t so great, it seems like hobby craft has pipe cleaners for everything. So the end product was flimsy and broke before we got home. The quality and quantity of the material’s definitely needs to increase.

Very helpful teacher but also allowed the children to be creative. I loved this craft and my children were keen to go and fin air dry clay for us to buy and continue.
I would recommend displaying the lite woodland scene more as this was great and influenced my children to want to make more.
I love these workshops and look forward to the new ones each holiday.

The lady who ran the session was lovely and engaged really well with my grand daughter whilst I kept to one side.
But I felt a session which cost £8 didn’t last above 20minutes, used a paper cup and wool was not really value for money - the weaving had unraffled before we got home. A bit disappointed

The venue was good and June my teacher was very helpful and explaining things properly. It will be excellent value for money if you want to learn the specific skills of sewing but in my case I wanted to know how to operate my sewing machine but you are not allowed to bring your own machine.

We had a fantastic workshop with June today. She was so lovely with my daughter. She listened to what she wanted to learn about and went through everything we asked for. The teacher was helpful and engaging with the children. However, after 30 mins (of an advertised and paid for session), I had to ask what was happening for the remaining time. The teacher seemed surprised as thought it had finished and said she could get more clay. If I hadn’t have asked, I don’t believe she would have said anything. We also had to ask for more clay rather than it just being brought out for use. It was a shame.

My two children aged 8 and 12 loved this workshop. The teacher was very friendly and welcoming. The supplies were set up ready and plentiful. We made two pots with guidance and even had time to make extra. It was good value for money and we will definitely be returning.

Had a 1-2-1 with Jan at the Guiseley store on Friday.
I bought my machine at the store previously and asked if they could fit me in for a 1-2-1 at short notice which Becky arranged for me there and then to attend the following day.
Jan was all prepared with the exact machine I had purchased.
I managed to park right outside and there was a lift to the floor where the workshop was being held.
I thoroughly enjoyed the tutorial. I was shown and guided to do everything from scratch. Jan showed me what to do and then I did the same tasks by myself.
Jan was very practical, enthusiastic and was able to answer every question I asked. She even gave me practical solutions to little problems I had been having with my sewing projects.
This workshop was great value for money. I will definitely be booking another as my skills improve.
I was confident enough to go straight home and unbox my machine.
I made a simple scrunchie as my first project. Looking forward to doing much more.

This course was excellent value for money. I was lucky enough to have a 1:1 session with my teacher Joanne- her direction really helped me. It was a very interactive lesson where I had the opportunity to watch the teachers technique and then had the change to try it with constructive critique.

I really enjoyed the course. Being able to take away the resources and everything that I needed to continue my practice was fantastic.

I was really inspired when I left and I am really looking forward to continuing what I have learned. I couldn’t have asked for a better teacher- she was friendly, skilled and made it really easy for me to understand.

I attended the Hobbycraft store in Guiseley,Leeds for a Cricut workshop.My teacher Joanne was so informative,kind and patient.She answered all my questions (and there were quite a lot as I’m new to Cricut!)
I learnt how to use vinyl and make a gift tag
I felt the workshop was very good value for money and would definitely recommend

Was ok but definitely not worth £5. Lady taking the class seemed nice but wasn’t very enthusiastic. My child likes the Christmas decoration but feel like it was a lot for pipe cleaners and beads and workshop didn’t seem to last very long.

The workshop was for acrylic pouring onto canvasses. We were given a kit set which was quite impressive and we used this for the class . It also included 5 canvasses. We used 3 canvasses during the session. There was plenty left over from the kit to take home. Tuition was good and she was very helpful. Would definitely explore other workshops at hobbycraft at Guiseley. Would like if they did the next level up.

Was very excited about the workshop. Thought it would be Christmassy . But disappointed with the box. The paints were pink and blue not very seasonal. The plastic cups inside were too small for the bigger baubles.
Did learn lots from the workshop. Will definitely be marbling at home, I even bought more Christmas colour inks.
Smaller baubles didn’t dry when it was time to go, so the ink ran when transporting them home.

The class was OK, I'm left handed as was another tutee, the course leader admitted she wasn't great with lefties and we could look at Google. I came away with more knowledge than I went in but only the initial basic stitch. My right handed friend got more out of it. My mustard wool was poor and grubby on opening the box.

Had the best time making this wreath. Booked the class with a friend and it was a lovely friendly environment. Had lots of help from June, felt very supported.

Do think there could have been more of the blueberry flowers in the kit but was happy with the size/ amount of the other elements.

Price of the class was a little expensive but we would book again and would love Joan to be our teacher! She really made the experience!

Lovely morning learning a new craft. The group of 5 was just the right size and it was relaxed & not rushed. The teacher was patient & helped you at each step. There was plenty of items to put on the wreath and you get to take home what you haven't used, a lot of other companies don't allow that. It was lovely to see each persons personal design & everyone was different which provide items for when making more. I will be back to do more classes.

The teacher was lovely. Very friendly and helpful. There were plenty of supplies and if we went wrong the teacher helped us. We have attended many of these workshops to entertain the children in the holidays and we always enjoy them whatever we make. The venue was good and the teacher was very knowledgable. The course started a little late as staff had to find electric cables and presser feet. I enjoyed picking up tips on using my machine and my daughter who also attended was a complete novice and found being shown how to wind a bobbin and thread the machine useful. I would recomend the course to complete novices and it was very good value for money.

Had a fabulous 1:1 cricut beginners session at Guiseley. The instructor was very knowledge, giving excellent information about the different machines, how to use the design app. The step by step instructions on how to use the design app and different materials were invaluable. I arrived and Jackie introduced herself and explained what we would be doing and also gave me my kit that came with booking the class. My class was 1-2-1 as there was only me booked on. Jackie was amazing, she gave me some good tips and was able to answer all my questions I had. Honestly if she hadn’t have said don’t over think it with colours and design, my designs wouldn’t have turned out so amazing, I just listened to what she said and everything just flowed so perfectly. I used the paints Jackie put out, there was a lot of selection and lots of different tools to use too. It’s the best £35 I’ve spent, I’ve come away knowing so much more and also did 3 canvases which I’ll collect next week once dry. Jackie was so friendly and welcoming and I’m so grateful she delivered my class this evening. I would highly recommend this class to everyone who wants to learn a little more about acrylic pouring, I’ve come away with so much from this class. Thank you Jackie for an amazing evening. I don't have a cricut machine yet. I have considered buying one for quite some time and that's why I attended this workshop. Joanne had plenty of knowledge and explained how to use design space clearly. We also had a chance to test out the machine- we made gift tags and printed our names on vinyl. There are plenty of youtube videos out there but you cannot beat a practical session like this to get you started. I would certainly recommend this workshop if you want a further insight into buying or using your new cricut machine. Thanks Joanne!

A great workshop with Joanne, who knew from my booking form exactly what I wanted to learn/achieve. She was able to show me step by step exactly how to create what I wanted. All relevant materials were to hand and I left having learned a lot. I was also able to complete the project I wanted - cutting out words on vinyl to place on a glass tumbler.
Once home, it took me a while, but I was able to complete a similar project which I would never have attempted without having had help from Joanne.
Excellent value for money and I would not hesitate to recommend the workshop to friends.

The teacher was friendly and explained things well. We learnt how to hold the brush pen at different angles to achieve thick and thin lines. We practised all the letters of the alphabet. The venue was great, because of the time of the workshop the store was not busy so it was nice and relaxed. The material provided was excellent and of good quality. The whole experience was very enjoyable and was good value for the money. The materials themself were worth at least half the price of the workshop.

disappointed with this workshop , crowns didn’t fit the children as where already made up , poor selection of craft Materials not even any Jewels… it’s a crown ….
No glue just glue dots where’s the fun in that , lasted about 10 mins before bored £15 wasted children didn’t even want to take home as didn’t fit

I really enjoyed my watercolour class. My tutor, Jemima was very pleasant to be with. She had a gentle manner and she was very encouraging. I learnt a lot whist spending a lovely time chatting to her. The box of 'goodies' was extremely good value and I have sung Hobbycrafts' praises to friends and family. The mug press tutorial was brilliant - it’s nice to be able to have the chance to be taught how to use the product. Took my 2 grandaughters for the 1hr sock puppets craft class. Rebecca took the class and was excellent, the children loved her and she had everything ready for us. We had a pack to open and there was a lot more in it than I expected. 5 socks to do and lots of eyes, ears eyelashes etc to make the puppet as you like. We had tubes of glue in the pack but she also provided glue dots so they didnt have to wait for the glue to dry. Good value for money and Rebecca was very good giving ideas of different things to make.

The work shop i did was great I really enjoyed it, the teacher was fantastic, she didn't rush through anything & always paused to ask if I had any questions, I really can't fault her, she went above & beyond throughout the time I was there, I would 100% recommend the workshop, definitely value for money. The only recommendation I would give that could possibly improve in my opinion is to maybe give a sheet with tips & prompts as there was so much to take in I had to keep jotting thing in my phone

Jackie understood how the Cricut maker 3 worked, she explained the difference tools and how they worked.
Her demonstration was delivered with a step by step guide
The price was ok.
The venue was ok, however, it would be better if we were seated, with a television screen type equipmentI would have glady paid more money if Jackie was able to carry out her demonstration in a more relaxed environment.
I am sold on cricut machines they are awesomefantastic creativity platform.
Looking forward to using my Cricut Maker 3.
I intend to attend more advanced classes.

Jackie was lovely , she explained everything in a manner that I could understand if I was unsure she repeated. I wanted to learn how to slice and insert text , weld. Jackie managed to show me this plus lots of extra tips and advise that will help make things much easier for me using my cricut.

Lovely course this morning. I was a bit nervous about going alone, but the trainer was very friendly and helpful.
I started my wreath and will finish it at home as I run out of time. The box of items to make the wreath was really good.
The venue was perfect but would be good to state on the confirmation email where the class was taking part as I didn’t know if I was looking for a room, or space, or on which floor. And/or a sign somewhere in the shop to direct people?
Also, I was really happy with the box contents for my items but would be good to know on the class info before booking what would be included as I had to guess between the normal and frosted wreath with no example pictures. Otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed the class. Just wish it lasted longer :)

It was lovely to experience but not worth £35. You can buy the kits for £10 on the shopfloor. There's no demonstration just heres one I made earlier then you crack on and do it yourself. You could just watch a video online with the kit really.

She had attached different kinds of zips to fabrics to show me their different properties and helped me to decide the best way of attaching my zip. The venue is very attractive being light and airy. I enjoyed the course for a social aspect, just chatting with the instructor and fellow crafter while crafting. Was nice and relaxing.
There wasn’t much instruction that could be offered as it is personal preference for design so no feedback there.
The store was tidy.
I would have liked more products so I could be more creative (perhaps a box that could be shared) but being in store I shopped for 5 minutes to create the full wreath I wanted.

Amazing, amazing, amazing, if you have a cricut and you have a problem Maxine is your person to go to, Maxine is very knowledgeable re the cricut and it’s processes, I would definitely recommend and will be going back for more tuition. Great value. Thank you Maxine.

Jean the teacher was great, unfortunately she kept getting interrupted by shoppers asking for help ect and this was really annoying. I feel that there should be a sign saying do not interrupt as this became a real problem and took away from my time also she could not find an extension cord for the my glue gun which meant I had to share with the other person, not great in these covid times.

Would definitely recommend to family and friends and would also do another course

I had the workshop with saffron,she was very polite and friendly,the workshop I attended was how to sew a button hole, saffron demonstrated this very clearly and also answered all my questions I had on the sewing Machine,the sewing machine was good to work on as it only had a few stitches to choose from and think as a beginner was great,I shall be booking more workshops with Hobbycraft in the near future.

Joanne was just fantastic, patient and very knowledgeable. I know she has saved me a lot of frustration. I have recently purchased a Cricut machine and it was great to be shown the basics of how it works. I now feel I can confidently work the machine. In a few months I would like to return for a further session and learn more.

Jackie was fabulous talking me through the making process step by step, slowing things down when I was finding things tricky and allowing me to modify the original planned design so my own style was reflected in the cards. She also provided some great tips to help me make my cards look amazing. I really liked I could pick a blue Xmas card theme when booking the workshop rather than just a traditional red/green but would have been perfect if the toppers in the pack had complemented the blue theme also.

I really liked the advent house and when it’s finished it’ll be great. All the things we needed were in one box together which is ideal. There’s limited numbers so a lot of space.
However, because of time limit we didn’t get to do much of the project. It could do with being a much longer experience.

I enjoyed the workshop with Joanne although because of technical issues - no fault of Hobbycraft - they were unable to use the Cricut joy machine. I did however find the overview of design space very useful. Well worth doing for anyone new to Cricut

Cheryl was brilliant today. The beginner’s lesson was for my 11 year old granddaughter, Lexie. She absolutely loved it. The way Cheryl taught was very informative, with clear
demonstrations and she encouraged practice throughout. Lexie can't wait to go again.

The staff at Guiseley are simply amazing Especially Cheryl who is so knowledgeable and helpful Hannah took my workshop and is fabulous with knowledge and people skills
