Throughout the year, Hobbycraft host a variety of workshops in stores and online, designed to give everyone the opportunity to master a new craft or refine a long-time favourite. Whether you want to enjoy crafting from the comfort of your own home or you’re looking to meet new people as you get making, these craft workshops offer something for everyone.

Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

My 14 yr old grand daughter and I attended a tutorial on how to set up and use a sewing machine. The teacher was lovely and put us at our ease by explaining all the steps clearly without rushing us or the session. The venue was the Falkirk store, in a quiet corner of the second floor where it was well lit and comfortable. The class was excellent value for money and we left feeling very positive that we now had the confidence to use a sewing machine at home. My grand daughter is over the moon at what she’s learned and excited to have taken her first steps into the immensely satisfying world of sewing. She has made a cushion cover already and has promised to make Darcey (dog) a bandana :)
In summary the session was a great success. Thank you Hobbycraft for making it possible, we’ll be back for other crafty sessions!

My daughter loved it….and has asked me to sign up to more. I would prefer the classes to be be an hour, as we’re coming from SouthQueensferry and it’s a bit of a hike for 30 minutes. Also, Thea probity took longer than the 30 minutes to properly finish off. Great idea though, and we’ll definitely be signing up to future classes

My wee one enjoyed the creating her own monster/animal. Not much guidance given during the making of the clay characters. Sheets handed out. Luckily my daughter had ideas on what she was making.

Eve was great. She was very engaging with the group and showed us different techniques and ideas to use to make our clay monsters. The girls enjoyed their time and Eve encouraged them to be creative. There were lots of colours to choose from to make colourful creations. Eve was organised and very pleasant and friendly. We enjoyed the workshop very much. Thank you!

The member of staff taking the class was brilliant with all the kids, she was very patient, helpful, and enthusiastic. There were lots of different colours of clay and plenty of materials for the kids to use and they had a fab time making their clay monsters. They will definitely be back for another class another time. They thoroughly enjoyed it. It was very good value for money.

All kids there lost interest. Slow going where normally the classes are really engaging. Wasn't the woman's fault but wasn't enough equipment for all attendees initially.

I had the one to one crochet workshop with Helen. I needed some help learning a new stitch. Helen was very helpful and encouraging. I learned the "magic circle" and how in increase and decrease. I would book this again if I had any other questions or needed more help.

We had 3 children at the class making Easter clay animals. Only one child was able to complete the clay animal, the other 2 children had to start over because the clay had dried up. The lovely teacher did give them extra clay to finish at home but they were a bit disappointed after spending so long making balls for the sheep then had to start over.

A nice way to celebrate Easter for my daughter. She loved the workshop. The teacher was very busy getting organised on our arrival as the store had been short-staffed (not her fault) She provided everything we needed and was there on hand to help, if needed. She let the children do whatever they wanted and provided a guide on paper but didn't give much direction personally whereas other workshops we've attended, the teacher has been more involved and engaged. Hence 4 stars and not 5 stars. We enjoyed it nonetheless and had great fun with the other families who were there with us as well. Lots of laughter. Thank you

Spring wreath workshop in celebration of International Women's Day for female members of Help for Heroes supporting female veterans and family members. Session was very relaxing and allowed some conversations to be had without any pressure. Kirsten was lovely and made the evening very enjoyable.

I was given a voucher for a Christmas gift to use for the classes at Hobbycraft. I am not the most creative of people and find it difficult to find time to be creative and do craft projects.
I chose the Acrylic Pouring class as I like more expressive art as I've found it something I have enjoyed in the past.
My teacher was fantastic, really friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. She put me at ease and ran a really enjoyable class. I found the class was really fun and therapeutic.
The materials provided were great and I felt I had everything I needed.
I would definitely recommend Hobbycraft classes to others and definitely return myself.

I wanted to learn how to get started with a sewing machine and advice on which type of machine would be best for a beginner. I was taken through how to set up the machine and how to do different stitches. I was given the chance to try all of this on my own which has made me more confident getting started at home. I took a friend with the add on option and both of us were given the same opportunities. I was given advice on good projects for beginners, types of fabric for different purposes and ended up purchasing a machine in store that same day. The teacher at the Falkirk store was lovely and put us at ease from the very start. Would highly recommend and will definitely be attending other workshops in the future!

After many years away from using a sewing machine, my skills and knowledge were a bit rusty and required updating but Hazel put me at ease straight away. She found a good match for my home sewing machine and explained its many functions clearly as well as guiding me through some ‘forgotten’ sewing techniques. The card making was great but the only thing I'd say is the glues used were not effective at all as the pipe cleaners and other accessories couldn't be stuck down on the cards so certain things couldn't be done as a result which was disappointing otherwise Chloe did a grand job taking the workshop. As usual the staff were really great at this in store class. My son is exceptionally shy in new groups but loves to craft and the lady did all she could to support him. The air dry clay was quick and easy to work with and I would definitely recommend this class to anyone

I liked that the class took place inside the shop - it made it very relaxed and friendly.
Chloe was very patient, explained techniques step by step and modelled the steps as well. She was also good at building confidence by giving positive feedback.
The materials were provided and we took away our own attempts at crochet.
The class was very good value for money and I would recommend it for anyone interested in taking up crochet.
Chloe also told us about other classes that are available and the support available online.

Chloe was an excellent teacher and very knowledgeable. She explained everything so well and was happy to go round everyone to make sure we were on track - and help us if we needed it. We even managed to get through the basics quite quickly so she showed us an extra stitch, which was really appreciated. 2 balls of wool and a crochet hook supplied - so we can continue where we left off when at home. We’ll also get an introductory guide emailed after the class along with patterns. Venue was a table in a quiet corner of the shop and was suitable. Would definitely recommend this class. We had a lovely time making the Christmas decorations with teacher Eve. She was really friendly, attentive and delivered the workshop really well. This workshop was really good value and it was even better as we got it during a promotion period. We managed to paint a bauble, make and create a star and tree decoration to take home. Really enjoyed the wreath making course. Rona was very approachable and enthusiastic. It was fun working with the materials to make your own design, also very satisfying getting to hang it up afterwards. Some of the original materials had been out of stock, but honestly their substitutions were even better than what was originally planned! After the class I feel confident that I can make my own wreaths. Definately recomend :)

Great class, taught by the lovely Chloe. 2 balls of wool were supplied and a size 8 crochet hook. Personally I thought the wool was good and it was the right size hook to begin with. Class was held in a relatively quite part of the store, to be honest I was concentrating, so didn't notice shoppers in the vicinity.

Rona at the Falkirk store was brilliant. She listened to what I was needing help with after I had advised I had done a couple of things on Cricut but needed help with using the Mug Press and learning about different materials. We were disturbed on one occasion by a customer but this did not disturb the lesson too much. I learnt alot from Rona and would recommend these one to one classes to anyone who requires it.

I attended a private 1hour lesson with Eve. She was absolutely lovely. Unfortunately I would say the biggest let down for us both was the WiFi! There was little to no signal. I brought my MacBook to get used to using design space on it but couldn't get any wifi so we used her tablet which unfortunately also kept having signal issues. Poor Eve was embarrassed and kept apologising. That was definitely not her fault she was very patient and knowledgeable however not great service to get a lesson costing £20 that requires WiFi to find out it's very poor quality!

The session was 1 to 1 which meant that it was easy to following along and understand how the machine works. It was done at a pace that was easy enough to understand and support to ask questions and see if I had any questions. The staff in the store have all been approachable and helpful.

Would definitely recommend this for anyone that is just starting out, needing help to restart sewing.

This was my son’s first workshop and he had a great time. The teacher was enthusiastic and great with my son. She was engaging and explained the steps clearly to him.

The workshop was a great way to get started with my new sewing machine. I was shown how to thread the bobbins and set the machine up. Its so much easier when someone shows you, rather than trying to follow the instructions yourself. Rachael was a great instructor. I have just attended the beginners crochet class. The tutor - Chloe - was amazing, has a wealth of knowledge and so friendly and put me at ease. She paced the timing exactly right, was very patient and most importantly listened when asking how I was getting on.
The tuition materials were excellent and Chloe also had prepared some prompt cards to make it much easier to see at a glance when working - going the extra mile. I would definitely recommend attending and am looking forward to trying out other workshops.

Rachel was a great teacher and great with the children. She was patient and showed them different techniques they could use. She encouraged them to be creative and think outside the box. My daughter really enjoyed the class as it was small and personal. Materials were provided and the class wasn't relaxed and not rushed. The children were made to feel at ease. Would definitely do it again with Rachel. She's fantastic. She is very good at what she does and is a skilled artist.

The teacher Eve was really good with my daughter. She explained everything and help her when required. She went round everyone in the group many times to ensure the instructions were understood and happy to answer any questions.
It was a great experience for my daughter as she hasn’t experienced working with clay before so she got a really lovely introduction to it.
More supplies were brought out as snd when required and everyone in the group was allowed to use the facilities to wash up afterwards. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Eve was amazing with my daughter and her friends. She described everything to them really well, topped up the paint and ensured they had everything they needed. The canvasses were taking a long time to dry so she allowed us to leave them until they were dry - we popped away for some lunch and came back to collect them. This made the whole experience so much easier and much more enjoyable for me as a parent. It was a fantastic session and we’ll definitely book more. Thank you!

From the onset Rona carefully took me through the various CriCut machines and was ready to answer all questions and queries I had.
I was amazed at the range of fonts and characters the CriCut 3 had available, plus more available through a monthly subscription.
The main reason for coming on the hour course was to know more, especially the Mug Press and different Heat Presses and I was amazed at the ease to use them and came away with a mug with my initials onwell worth the hour and now to sort out from my pension the monies to get them

Easy to make and great looking sea creatures

My kids enjoyed an hour of modeling clay to make sea creatures. Lots of different colours of clay to choose from, different shapes and googly eyes and voila - you get happy children.
Amber was amazing, was knowledgeable and really patient; she set a steady pace so all the children of different age could follow.

Rachael was amazing, the space upstairs where we had the workshop was quiet and spacious. She showed me how to use the Hobbycraft sewing machine that I bought a couple of years ago and never managed to figure out. I recommend this class, it was very good value for money. I was pleased with how kind, professional and knowledgeable Rachel was. Overall a great experience.

I bought a sewing machine for my 11 year olds birthday. As we didnt know how to set it up I enquired about a workshop.
Myself and my daughter both booked in for the workshop with Rachel. She explained how to set up the machine in great depth and let us set it up ourselves. Rachel was very patient and knowledgeable.

Eva is my 5 year old Granddaughter and together we attended today's workshop. Hazel the teacher was helpful and friendly and involved Eva in election of the excellent materials and also constructionbut only if help was asked for. The creations were what Eva wanted them to look like.

Great range of colours of clay available and Eva made 5 models I thought she would only be given stuff to make 1. The workshop was well situated in an area of the store where people weren't constantly passing but neither was it isolated.

Would have liked to have achieved a bit more from the class although our instructor was very helpful with starting a granny square which wasn't covered in that session Wrong hook size supplied for yarn and although that didn't make too much of a difference was of a basic error as we were covering tension. Would have liked to have known if there was some sort of more advanced class after the basics.

My 4 yr old and I attended the clay sea creatures craft today with Rachel. Her teacher was patient and helpful. My daughter loves mermaids so we made one of those as well. It is an hour long so her attention was fading a bit but that has to do with her age rather than the class itself. Highly recommend for a different activity during the school holidays!

This session was definitely worth the money. I had specific questions that were easily answered. I was shown how to work the machine and how to do a few things on the machine which i got to take home with me. I was asked what i wanted to learn so the time was beneficial.

Rona, my one-to-one class instructor was excellent! Rona was very informative, friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the Cricut. When I booked the workshop, I explained that I was thinking of purchasing the Maker 3 but wanted to see if it would do what I was hoping it would and what I was hoping to learn from the workshop, Rona covered everything. I wasn't made to feel my questions were stupid. I saw the machine working too.

The host was very nice but was struggling with the Pom Pom makers which were not of the best quality.
I felt the cost of the workshop £15was expensive considering all we came away with was the Pom Pom bunny. My previous workshop was £20 which included a whole box of goodies.
Quite honestly I could have dinner this at home for a fraction of the cost and it would dissuade me from booking another.

I went to this workshop with 2 8 year old boys and one 6 year old girl and they all had good fun. Having a small group who knew each other helped. The class leader was kind and helpful to the children and had a lovely manner. The task was simple but the children really enjoyed what they made. I’d recommend this for children under 8 but even the older boys had fun. For only £5 I thought it was good value.

We arrived a couple of minutes late but were able to join in. There were 5 kids (including mine) at the table. My daughter picked her canvas and had to share paint and water with 2 others which wasn’t ideal. 1 between 2 was better than between 3.
We finished early but my daughter loved it especially when she was able to apply some colourful gems and glitter glue.
It was a great session and will be back for more.

Unfortunately the glue in the packs were useless and the items didn’t stick together so Rachel allowed us to choose a different pack. There were only 2 girls in the class and so they picked spoon fairies. These were a little more successful as there were glue dots. A tad fiddly for the kids and unfortunately the glue didn’t last long. When we were home, I re stuck everything on using UHU glue which worked a treat. Despite these hiccups, my daughter had a lovely time as Rachel was very attentive and gave lots of assistance. Venue and position of the craft table is excellent.

Hazel did a great job teaching the class.
Venue was fine except a few customers asking her questions since we were very visible but not really a problem.
Materials provided were great and good value.
Not sure if workshop was classed as suitable for beginners but I would have preferred a workshop at a more basic level as I am a complete beginner. I would have liked to learn different stitches, perhaps just doing squares. It is nice to come away with a useful product (the bunting)however my knowledge is not much further on than before the workshop. However enjoyed the experience.

Ashley was again very helpful. She gave very clear instruction about how to use text for vinyl labels with my Cricut joy so that I can l can label all my various items in my craft room. Ashley gave advice about when the different types of vinyls and transfer tapes and helped me choose suitable products for my projects at the end of the class.
I also arrived with a list of questions /areas where I needed help and advice and Ashley was happy to help.
At the end of the class I felt a lot more confident.

My kids had good Christmas fun decorating couple of Christmas ornaments. Rachel was her usual herself - smiling and cheery, she lead the workshop by example; she was patient and helpful to the kids. She had everything ready, more than enough paint and glitter, pots and brushes.
So my children enjoyed it and had wee something extra to hang on our Christmas tree.

Good to know the app hand be told how it works. But still felt I was paying a salesman to sell me their product. Is that not their job? What they are employed for? Maybe offer it free if you buy the product? Curry’s don’t charge you to be shown how an iPad works. A workshop is where you use the machine to make something. Not getting shown a product you stock. I would have bought cricut products from you if you hadn’t been greedy & charged me for a demonstration.

Very enjoyable class. Contents of Christmas wreath box was good with lots of additional items provided. Leader of the class was just a young girl and so lovely, but not educated or qualified in teaching wreath making (or any of the other classes). This is not a negative on the leader but just to note if anyone is attending thinking they were going to be taught by a qualified craft person. I would definitely attend another class.

Teacher was great explained things well step by step
I’m new to all this I just got my Cricut 3 machine and I wanted to find out step by step how to use it so I will be coming for more classes.
And yes I do think I got value for the money I paid.
And the lesson focused on iron on how to download the app on my iPad and how to use the iron machine. The teacher created a design on a hanging cloth and it worked out perfectly. Overall I came away with enough knowledge to set up my machine and complete a project myself at home.

As the workshop was for my children, I'd say they had so much fun. They love crafting things and this workshop was really amazing. It offered something different then the usual Halloween activities, they did create their own pieces of spooky craft and they loved it.
It was our third workshop with Chloe, who was leading the work. She was her usual herself - smiling, confident, helping if the kids needed, and patient.
I think there should be more kids workshops as many customers stopped and admire childen at work, approved of this initiative and some paternts said they never realised such workshops are offered.
All the staffmembers at Hobbycraft Falkirk are always smiling and helpful, there is always someone arround to offer help or answer a question. And my questions have always been answered confidently and in full, details explained and examples shown.
Great to have such a lovely staff here in Falkirk.
Thank you Chloe, for delivering yet another fun Saturday afternoon for my childern.

This was my first craft class at hobbycraft and I had a great time.
Chloe was so welcoming, explained everything well and happy to help when wasn't sure how to do some stuff.
It was so relaxing and enjoyed chatting to other crafters.

Great value for money and enjoyable way to spend time learning a new craft locally with a group of people.
The tutor was excellent and as well as her teaching skill her ability to draw all of us into the group was great.

Thoroughly enjoyed myself as did my friend. Lovely wreath to be able to gift to my Mum.

Teacher Rachel was fantastic. Good materials especially as it all came in a box which i could keep and enjoyed learning.
Only problem was there were no full size cloches for sale as i would have bought some to make more in my own time

Excellent class which my 8 year old thoroughly enjoyed. The teacher was brilliant and very good at explaining what to do. The was a good choice of ceramics to paint and additional materials available.

Great value money for the class and a fantastic patient teacher. Learned to thread my midi sewing machine and bobbin and got plenty practice doing different stitches. Will definitely book further classes in the future to learn different techniques.

Rachel was excellent. So helpful, easy going and very knowledgeable. She answered all my questions and talked me through the features of the machines I wanted to compare (Cricut explore air2 and cricut maker). Rachel also showed me how to get started in design space. I will definitely be purchasing a cricut now! And will sign up for more workshops. Thank you Rachel!

Really enjoyed my Christmas Advent Calendar House workshop today at Falkirk.
The instructor, Rachel, was helpful and friendly.
The kit was good and I was happy with the colours - I’d opted for the brights. Was lovely sitting in the shop having time to be creative and crafty. Looking forward to finishing it at home.

Had a one-to-one Sew Simple workshop today with Rachel in the Falkirk store. I am a total novice and she was a fantastic teacher, explaining all the functions of new sewing machine, what I needed to know about stitch length and tension, and which stitches to use for different projects and fabrics. Threading the machine is much simpler and quicker now she has shown me how to do it. She took me through sewing corners and circles too. I'll definitely look at doing other sewing workshops to improve my skills.

We went to the Falkirk shop and Chloe was our host. The kids event was ‘watercolours’.

She made the kids feel very welcome and they had a great time.

The whole experience was excellent value for money as the kids were able to take away the watercolour kit they were working on. Their paintings were great and they are asking when the next time is they can go back! Throughly recommend it

Chloe, was extremely good with leading the workshop learning how to paint acrylics on canvas for a 8-13 year old. It was excellent value, all the required materials were provided and would cost more than the class if bought separately. Which makes getting tuition from someone of Chloe's skill and charm with dealing with my Daughter an incredible bargain. We will definitely be looking out for more workshops as things get a bit more "normal" and look forward to more visits to Hobbycraft

Once again my kids had fab time. Chloe led them well step-by-step, explain in detail and children learned how to do it by example. She was well prepared, set a relaxed and friendly environment, they joked and laughed together. Kits for the children provided everything they need; good value for the money.
Hobbycraft in Falkirk is always a nice place to visit, staff is really helpful and able to answer my questions, and this workshop was not exception.

Great value for money for 1 - 1 tuition. I was apprehensive that it might be beyond my technical ability as I was struggling with design space. Rachel was exceptionally good at explaining and demonstrating design space in an easy to understand way. I went with a few issues I was struggling with and hopefully I can put into practice everything i was shown

My kids loved it. Chloe was really sweet, explained everything in detail, she was obviously well prepared; the smile never left her face.
The space was well lit, warm and welcoming, with enough room for each child.
The watercolours kits were amazing, with a lots of stuff to keep my children busy during a whole week. And they love to play and experiment with all the paints.
Thanks a bunch to Chloe and all the Falkirk Hobbycraft staff for the experience. We'll be back.
