Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

Great introduction and nice that we get a takeaway kit. Whilst still difficult for me I progressed further than I ever have watching YouTube tutorials or reading kids guides! Having someone o hand to correct your mistakes makes it a lot easier!

I was very pleased with the workshop and Cloe she was a good teacher and answered questions The venue could have been better in a room as we were interrupted several times, and was standing which was a bit difficult for me.
I think that just one hour was not long enough but I now that must be difficult. On the whole ok.
Looking at the Circuit machines the Joy extra would be the one I would go for as the bigger ones I would not be able to afford.

The teacher could have been more helpful with showing how to cut up the stencils needed to do the painting, a variety of easter oriented shapes would have been more encouraging for the easter season, the teacher was not kept informed of the number of guests to expect and didn't have enough resources ready. The class did advertise Adults and 3 yrs plus but the adults were not offered aprons.

The class was excellent; fun, and great value for money!
Chloe explained things well; was patient, and spent equal amounts of time with each of the participants, either helping them or showing new techniques. As a teacher, I was very impressed with her skills!
The venue was fine; light and airy, but the chairs were a bit hard and we all wished we'd bought a cushion - that said, we completely understood why this would be impractical for Hobbycraft to provide.
The materials provided were fine. Apparently they aren't what would normally be provided but the local Hobbycraft had been out-of-stock of the appropriate items for weeks. The crochet needle we should have had would be metal which, apparently, would have helped us beginners; the wool was a choice of only two colours (pink & mustard) and did split quite a bit, and the bag would have been a craft-focused type. All that said, it wasn't the fault of Chloe or Hobbycraft Eastbourne that the items hadn't been supplied to them.
This didn't spoil the class but just made things a little more difficult for us beginners.
I would thoroughly recommend this class, and have already booked two other craft classes. Well done Chloe

The class was small (4 children) which allowed all to access the resources and assistant’s time. The assistant was good with the children but it was left to the supervising adults to assist them in decorating the hat. A good range of resources were provided to decorate the hat for the price paid. The glue chosen would not stick items to the material of the hat so sticky glue dots had to be used which worked better but it was very difficult to get them off the paper - again an adult had to do this.
Overall, it was good value for £8 and it saved the time buying the resources and the mess at home. Thank you.

I've recently retired and booked the Easter wreath making class as something new to try. I was surprised to find I was the only attendee, but the young lady showing me the ropes was lovely and put me at ease straight away. Everything needed to make the wreath was supplied, including images of the suggested design. I went totally off plan lol, and did my own thing with plenty of encouragement from my teacher. It was a lovely relaxing way to spend an hour or so, and I bought a few more Easter related bits in store to add to my wreath at home. I'd definitely recommend it to any novice crafter like megood price for the course, and a big thank you to Izzy at the Eastbourne store for helping me and being so friendly.

I Had a one to one sewing workshop I had no experience on using sewing machines. The teacher was very helpful, going through all the features of the machine. And then helped me to take in a pair of jeans. The teacher was very pleasant and helpful. The location was on tables within the store which was useful for purchasing items to assist future planned sewing projects. The workshop was very good value as it gave me confidence to use my new sewing machine for future projects.

This was such an excellent class. Thank you. Chloe was a brilliant teacher. She was patient and kind and very clear in her instructions. The magic circle will never hold fear for me ever again! It was also good to see the various swatches so that I could see the different types of stitches. Being able to take the instructions, crochet hook and wool home meant that I could practice straight away.
Well done and I think I will be signing up for more classes in the future.

There was a good range of materials available to use- I was very impressed with the variety especially considering it was only a 30 minute activity. The class is a very good idea and right up my little girl's street as she enjoys being creative. As an only child it was a good opportunity to do this class with a school friend rather than do something similar with me just at home as it gave her social interaction. However, I felt that at 30 minutes, the class was just too short. It felt rushed to finish off the models and hardly any time for the social interaction we were after for the kids as well as the mums! I think an hour session would have been better and even though we were rushed to finish the class on time, it didn't seem that there was any need as we were browsing in the shop after and no other class was going on immediately after.

Thank you so much for my one to one session at Eastbourne on Wednesday at 4.15pm.
I wanted to buy a sewing machine and try some before I bought one.
Chloe was so helpful and I had a go on four machines, filling the bobbing, threadind and stiching and made my choice and bought one how great was that.
Cant wait to use it starting with some christmas decotations as my granddaughter is coming from Australia and want to decorate the house as they dont decotate much over there as it is their summer.
So once again Chole for your patience the hour went very quickly.

The class was good, however my granddaughter was getting frustrated at the tissue paper sticking to her fingers and then wanted to play at peeling off the glue and paper from her hands, would have liked a bit more input but she was well supported, maybe having bits already prepped like the tissue paper in a variety colours, might have been a better option but still very enjoyable and a great price, picture offering workshop a bit misleading as my granddaughter thought she was making 3 pumpkins

I had such a good time, at my one to one sewing class. The teacher was so relaxing that I really felt at ease. She showed me the basic - How to wind the bobin, how to set up the machine, lots of sewing and extra tips too. She really was a good teacher.
The Eastbourne shop is very spacious and I felt really comfortable. An excellent hour, and it has given me the confidence I needed. Thank you. Eastbourne.

I had a 1:1 sewing session with Chloe. She was warm and friendly and a great teacher. As a first time sewer I was quite nervous , but she showed great encouragement and patience. I practiced on the same machine as I brought and Chloe answered all my questions that I had. Would defiantly book another session and give an update on my first project.

We did enjoy this workshop with Chloe, who was very helpful and built a lovely rapport with all children and adults. Again the time of 30 minutes was an issue for this age group, as the workshops need to be 45 minutes in length. By the time the children hear the instructions and start to get the various pieces needed for their creation, a significant amount of time has passed not enabling them to complete the task.

Unfortunately the member of staff who very helpful and kind was unable to get the machine working which I was interested in. She has however offered to see me again once they’ve worked out how to fit the bobbin in the sewing machine so she can explain it’s benefits and let me give it a test run.

Chloe is an absolute star she’s truly a great asset to your company. Having 3 children with special needs nothing phased her she just chatted away and the children really enjoyed the experience. One thing that would make it easier for children with sen do it in a quieter environment away from the shop floor and prying eyes one child couldn’t cope with being looked at and missed out on the opportunity which they would have benefited from.

This was such a useful introduction to the cricut machine I'd purchased. I think it was a lady called Chloe and she was so knowledgeable and understanding that I was a complete begginer. A cricut expert to guide me, well worth the money as now I've been able to go home and set my machine up.

The teacher was supportive. Other materials to paint like stamps of different shapes to dip into paint would be ideal. Support on understanding the use of the different paint brushes would help improve the quality of the art work. Explaining the basics of how different colours mixed can produce different colours could also lead to better produced art work.

I'm an absolute beginner with sewing machines and no idea where i should start, Chloe was very patient and helpful and talked through everything and gave me lots of pointers and tips on what to do and how to use the machine and hand techniques for holding the fabric. All in all a very positive experience and i will 100% be booking another class soon!

Our teacher Chloe was beyond fantastic today. From start to finish she explained things clearly to my daughter. She was patient, kind and thorough with her teaching points. My daughter can be shy with new people but she felt so comfortable straight away with Chloe. Chloe gave us key pointers and tips and certainly was full of knowledge. A fantastic workshop my granddaughter aged 6 really enjoyed making the Easter sign, using the acrylic marker pens, Chloe was really supportive and helpful in sharing her expertise, knowledge as well as working around solving problems like doing the patterns on paper first before putting them directly onto the egg, a shame that there were no Easter shapes or letters considering this was an Easter based activity

Rebecca was a very helpful Cricut expert. I have now progressed - something I was struggling with from just watching videos online. Before I was able to produce a wiggly worm, was taught how to turn and now have made a patch, feel confident now in moving this forward.

Teacher excellent. The purpose was to assess my sewing machine bought in the pandemic. I have struggled to use the machine which glitches and catches the thread. Retuning not long after I bought the machine I was told by a colleague it was my inexperience that was probably the fault. I have persevered, but to no avail. Today's session brought no issues until 35 minutes in when the tread real started to dance and the thread started catching. The expert agreed that the machine had an unexplained glitxh however as the machine in out of warranty there was no action they could take. I feel as I actually brought the machine back in the early days and this fault has been present since I bought the machine this is not acceptable.
The expert was lovely. Completely stumped by the glitch which is intermittent but is very frustrating and I could not recommend this machine to anyone looking to purchase a machine. I have actually lost confidence with my machine and the brand.

Had a lovely afternoon at the clay craft session, teacher was lovely and learnt some new tricks and different techniques.
The only downfall was they didn't have enough box sea sent to them for the course so my box was made up, I was missing the alphabet stamps and my mums alphabet stamps broke so we can't away with no alphabet stamps which was a shame.

My workshop teacher was lovely, very helpful and friendly. The materials were all good quality and getting to keep what I didn't use meantnit was great value for money. The only down side was the location, workshops in this store take place on a table in the middle of the store floor, and even with signs up asking customers to find another member of staff to help, my workshop teacher was interrupted numerous times.

Having never done a hobbycraft workshop before I was unsure what to expect.
The whole experience was relaxing and enjoyable. The member of staff was helpful and friendly and interacted with us throughout the session.

Our crochet tutor was Jessica who is so lovely, reassuring, friendly & helpful. The crochet boxes have two balls of wool, a crochet hook & instruction sheets. We had 4 people in the class so attention from our tutor was available when needed.
I have light sensitive eyes so found the lighting in store was far too bright to sit under for 1 1/2hrs trying such detailed learning like crochet & ended up with visual disturbance as a result. I was pretty rubbish at the crochet despite all the encouragement, all fingers & thumbs, I don't feel it's something I'll try again or enjoy at home personally but at least I have it ago.
I would highly recommend this course but if you are light sensitive do take appropriate tinted glasses for the Eastbourne store.

The teacher (Jasmine) was really good. She showed us clearly how to make the pipe cleaner spiders and gave us all the things we needed.
It was good value for £5 as it would have probably cost more than that to buy all of the craft materials plus it was an experience for my daughter and gave us something to do during the October holidays.
My daughter was able to make 4 spiders to take home and enjoyed her time spent crafting.
We will definitely look into booking onto another children's craft sessions.
I like being shown how to make a particular craft as it makes it easier to understand.

I enjoyed the embroidery class some of the stitches were hard to do but you get there in the end . If I had a problem it was sorted out and I was shown what to do again a very patient member of staff was on hand. I would recommend this course to try embroidery.

The teacher was lovely and interacted with the kids well. It was nice that they had a choice of colours and googly eyes and to make as many creatures with the clay as they wanted. Great value for money & the kids loved it.

My three year old son was a bit nervous to start with. After some persuasion we got him to sit on my lap. Very relaxed. He really enjoyed the painting in the end. The lady was lovely; and she gave him some extra paper after he had finished his canvas. To do some more painting.
We left the painting to dry and came back later to collect.
Excellent t value for money. We hope to the dinosaur one next which he may be more excited about

I really enjoyed the wildlife watercolour class the teacher was very patient and explained in detail what to do she showed me a lot of useful tips to do my picture I think it is good value for money as you get to take the items home to carry on painting I just wish they would bring the landscape class back and the embroidery one as I would like to do these but I will be booking more classes soon give it a try

The class was only very small in an pleasantly air conditioned shop, the young girl who lead it was very friendly but we felt that it could have been more inter-active - children and parent left mainly to their own devices while the girl made her own models. We were able to bring home the models we made.

I've always wanted to try my hand at watercolour painting, but have felt too intimidated to just give it a go; so I was thrilled to see the local instore workshop and decided to go for it!
My tutor Alex was really encouraging, friendly and engaging; she gave me some great tips and advice as we painted along together.
I was a little bit worried at first when I saw that the class was to be held in the middle of the store, amongst other customers but I soon forgot them as became engrossed in creating my first watercolour and the hour just flew by.
The £35 fee is great value for money as you come away with not only a piece of artwork but the paints, brushes and watercolour pad too.
I would definitely recommend this class and am already looking forward to booking another one and trying out acrylics in the future too

This was such a great session that I really enjoyed. Rebecca at the Eastbourne store is a great teacher, explaining the process clearly and giving time for me to write notes.
She gave useful hints and tips on using the Cricut Joy as I am a beginner.
After the explanation and demonstration I was enabled to try it out for myself under the watchful eye of Rebecca
I really recommend a workshop for something new that you want to experience to enhance your creativity!

Daughter was able to learn all that she had questions about, including being able to practise stitching on templates (was given them to take home). We took our own fabric and elastic to make scrunchies as a simple project while asking questions and problem solving. Sewing machine guidance also given. Venue was bright and clean with a friendly teacher and team.

Celia could not have been nicer or more patient. The teaching area was light and airy. Nothing was too much trouble and I left the lesson feeling much more confident than when I entered. I was also given lots of useful tips which I was previously unaware of. I went home and immediately converted two tunics to t-shirts. I will be booking a further lesson with Celia in the future. Chloe was great again. This time I wanted to improve my ability to sew in a straight line.
Unfortunately I had little spare time over the past week so hardly used my home sewing machine.
We used a magnetic guide on the metal sewing plate and that made a great improvement.
I also practised with several decorative stitches and varied predominately the sizes of the stitches which looked really interesting and now understand the default settings. One can also vary the length of the decorative stitch as well.
Overall a great session.
Would like to learn about button holes next time.

Great class with Chloe at the Eastbourne shop. I learnt so much about my sewing machine, different types of stiching & lots of practical advice. So much easier when you learn on the actual sewing machine you have. Chloe was so patient & no question was too much trouble for her to answer. Would thoroughly recommend this class, came away raring to get my sewing machine out and practice all the new things Chloe has shown me.

Luke, a manager, took the class. I specifically wanted to cover the HC8100. I am a complete beginner to sewing and I wanted a sewing machine that had start/stop, reverse, stitch locking and up/down buttons on the machine. I wanted to be able to sew very slowly at a steady speed and I wanted it to create a stitch lock at the beginning and at the end of a seam.
Luke was very patient and demonstrated the above for me. And than I had a go myself. The only trouble was the stitch locking of
a zig/zag stitch that created a lump of thread at the stitch lock at the end of the seam.
This is to be resolved before purchasing this model.

The teacher was very good and patient as I am a complete beginner who has never handled a sewing machine.
I learned the basics of bobbin winding, threading all the way to the needle eye, and then did some stitching including reverse stitching and adjusting speed.
Overall it was very useful for me.
The 1 to 1 for 1 hour is great value for £15.
It is a shame that I will be buying a combined sewing and embroidery machine, probably the Brother M280D but despite the fact you do Brother machines I have been told that you will not sell that machine. My intention is to produce dresses, shirts and tops for my 3 granddaughters.

Overall the workshop was good. The workshop leader / teacher (Theo?) was lovely, very friendly and made us feel comfortable. The items included in the kit were very nice and it was great having the choice of extra items from the selection given.

Going in, I didn't know what to expect in terms of where the workshop would be in-store. There was a table laid out towards the back of the store but in the middle where other people could walk past or watch. Preferably, it would have been nicer to have had the table in a corner or someway of making the workshop feel a bit more intimate. I know some people could feel a bit uncomfortable if people are watching them. That said, once we we got into making our wreaths, the teacher was so good, I don't think many of us felt uneasy with other people walking by.

I do feel that the workshop was a little bit overpriced. I think £30 would have been reasonable and most of that would be taking into account the items and the staff member's time. Apart from this, I would consider attending another workshop as my friend and I did have a good time.

The tutor (Becky) was excellent and showed me step by step about using the transfer tape when producing text. I have the Joy model at home.

We used the provided Cricut Joy and all materials were provided. Various tips were suggested and also that I should use StrongGrip Transfer Tape when the text was printed on Glitter Smart Vinyl.

The session was extremely useful and covered everything I needed to know.

I turned up for the workshop only to be told that I should have received an email as the workshop had been cancelled. The reason was that the boxes with what we needed had not been delivered by Hermes. Thankfully Michelle (Eastbourne shop) said that she would still take the workshop and went to get the items from the stock in the shop. We then had a very pleasurable hour going through what to do etc. I was very pleased with the wreath I made and Michelle was very patient. Would recommend if the wreath boxes turn up!
