Most of our workshops are led by colleagues from Hobbycraft stores across the UK, including craft experts from our Hobbycraft Artisan programme. They use their expertise in specific areas of craft to create workshops that show participants new skills and inspire future projects.

Really helpful workshop- Quentin was great and explained everything very clearly, and was very patient with us. We learnt how to chain, double crochet, triple crochet, and had spare time at the end to learn how to do a magic ring. Really enjoyed the workshop, great materials, and feel more confident for crocheting on my own now!

My grand-daughter enjoyed her activity making animals out of clay at Hobbycraft in Crewe. The tutor was helpful and provided clear explanations to the children. The small group size is ideal for young children.

The girls really enjoyed making their animals or creations they decided on. The modelling clay which came in different colours was easy to work with, not messy either - bonus.
The teacher was good with the children, very helpful and pleasant.
Will be looking to book in the next school holidays.

The class was not very good, I could have bought the wreath and a wreath making pack for half the price. The young man who supposedly was to take the class just sat at the table making his own wreath, not instructing anyone. Rambling on about his room at home and his previous efforts. Two of the three people there had not done a class before but just gave the the equipment and instructions. Much prefer Cheryl, better instructor.

Teacher was good, friendly, class was upstairs back of store nice and quiet due to late morning. Was nice to get a worksheet bag 2 balls of wool and a crochet hook to take home I had a little understanding of crochet before the class and was glad I did was able to clarify a couple of things.

Really enjoyed the workshop overall, our teacher Cheryl was brilliant kind and friendly and extremely helpful and encouraging. I will start with the negatives - Cheryl was called away from the group on 2 or 3 occasions to help customers look for products on the shop floor and interrupted by another member of staff who wished to speak to her personally - the wire provided was very difficult to work with making the start of the workshop extremely frustrating and painful as it scratched and cut into my fingers. 1 hour was definitely not long enough for this workshop, it looks much simpler than it actually is, luckily we were able to carry on and finish our stars. The supplies given were very basic but other bits and pieces were made available by Cheryl. (Thank you Cheryl). All of that said I was very pleased with my end product and it will take pride of place in my home this Christmas and yes, everyone will hear how difficult it was to make, the blood sweat and tears that went into this unique one off Christmas Star.

As a complete newbie to Cricut, I found the workshop very informative and convinced me that I want this as my new hobby! I was shown the capabilities of the machines and the different material options. Once I buy my machine, I'm sure I will book further workshops to master the craft :)

I did enjoy the marbling workshop. Cheryl is always fun to work with. I did not complete all my baubles as it was difficult to marble the large baubles in the small cup we have been provided. It might be an idea to be supplied with larger cups or just two sets of small baubles. Unfortunately the time goes always too quick and I was unable to finish the baubles. It would have been nice to be supplied with a mini set of the colours to be able to finish the baubles off at home.

I really enjoyed the workshop. The teacher was helpful and offered help where necessary. I thought it was good value for money and I would happily book another workshop. However, I wanted to buy the necessary materials to do more but there were none in stock. The most basic of all materials is the bath but there wasn’t any. I wanted some Christmas inks in gold and silver but they didn’t have any of those either. As a result I have bought the items I needed from Amazon!

My Granddaughter, daughter and I had a wonderful time pouring paint. Quentin the tutor was encouraging, knowledgeable and friendly.
The paint provided was lovely to use and a bonus was to get to take the pack home afterwards so we can practice some more. I would recommend the workshop.

The wreath making workshop was very fun! It was a small group which was nice, we had all the supplies we needed and it all came in a nice box to keep the wreath in when not in use. It was so fun putting it together and seeing it take shape the more we added. The teacher was great and gave some different ideas and was encouraging. The time went by so quickly, I had a great time!

My two grandchildren very much enjoyed making the Christmas countdown calendars. Plenty of materials available and the class was run at their own pace. Our teacher was excellent, helped the children individually and gave them plenty of attention. She was very kind, friendly and chatty.

The tutor Cheryl was great, very friendly and helpful. We were given a large box but not a lot of content. The tutor provided us with a few extras which was great. Some of the little drawstring bags were difficult to be pulled closed and I had to adjust quite a few of them once I got home. The number stickers for the bags were more suitable for card making and do not really stick to the material. I bought some wooden numbers and glued them on the bags with a glue gun at home.

We arrived a couple of minutes late to the workshop because of terrible traffic in the area - I was worried but needn't have been, Gaby was so welcoming and friendly. She really took the time to chat to the girls and helped them where needed. Great fun session to make a halloween spider, my 7yr old daughter really enjoyed. Short 30 minutes to keep her attention span and a new little spider friend to take home. Nicely demonstrated by the teacher in child friendly language. It was the first we have attended but we would certainly look for more events now.

The teacher was very friendly and inspiring. Some of the material was very difficult to cut as the cutters provided were not strong enough to get through the wire. Also I sometimes think just an hour is not long enough to complete the project. Luckily I have a crafting room at home to finish the wreath. Previously you used to get the glue gun as a present as well which is great especially for new crafters. Overall I enjoyed the class and enjoyed meeting the other two ladies who attended the class. Its great to bounce off ideas of each other. I prefer these courses to the online courses. I have three more courses booked which I am looking forward to attend.

My daughter (aged 9) and I had a beginners 1 2 1 sewing lesson with Sharon. We thoroughly enjoyed our lesson.
Sharon was really knowledgeable, we made cushions as a beginner project and then she advised us on what bits and bobs we’d need to get started. Highly recommend!

We were warmly welcomed and the children were encouraged to do whatever they wanted on the canvas. Good choice of paints and brushes, etc. The teacher praised the children's efforts and there was no pressure at all. The area allocated was quiet and comfortable. My grandchildren want to attend again as they really enjoyed the experience. Thank you.

The lady running the session was lovely. Unfortunately not many colours available, had to ask for red. Very few pictures to look at for inspiration. The clay is a puffy, super light-weight material, so easy for kids to mould. Took about 2 days to air dry. Our whole group knew eachother so we were able to share all the colours. We took home what was leftover to finish later.

The teacher was very pleasant and kind and took time to support us. The venue was OK. It was quiet at first but then customers came into the area and spoke to us.
We were allowed to chose our wool with advice from the teacher. The wool provided was lovely and soft. The crochet hook was a good size for a novice.
The experience was good value for money.
We learnt two basic crochet stitched.
I liked ending the session with two samples and patterns to continue learning.

Teacher was lovely, very patient only moving on when we were ready. Box of wool and crochet hook with instructions provided, good quality wool. Started with simple chain stitch, teacher was patient whilst we undid our chains and tried again as the first try was a bit messy! Books were pulled off the shelves to show us different stitches and items we could make. We managed to do the double crochet stitch as well as the chain so were really chuffed that we had learned something to build on and could actually make something with the knowledge already. Very pleased with the 1 to 2 private class, suited us better than a larger class. Would definitely recommend to start off a hobby.

As I was about to spend a lot of money on a new sewing machine it was money well spent learning about the machine and how it works before I bought it. In fact after talking with the teacher before we started I opted for a different machine to that I originally looked at.

We arrived around 10 mins early for the class. But there was nobody there.( I went to ask another staff if craft session will take place). The person who led arrived just after 11. It would have been fine if she would have introduced herself or even have a name label.
Craft material were all in the box and we were allowed to get some extra things from the Easter shop to add on our wreath. Thanks. Also thanks for advice how to make / put together a wreath.

We were lucky enough to have the space to just ourselves. The girls loved making the Easter bonnets, although not all the crafting things provided were geared towards Easter. Quentin was very helpful and the girls loved his pipe cleaner animals and flowers.

We know Cheryl from having classes at Bridgemere and she is always very patient and funny and that is the reason we went to Crewe. The instruction she gives is very easy to follow and my granddaughter loves going to see her.

Quentin was a great teacher and the time flew by. The materials provided were good quality. I am a complete beginner and will take a while to get the tension right, but found it easy to learn the 3 different stitches. The workshop has inspired me to keep practising and I can see an improvement already (next day). I would recommend this class to anyone who would like to learn as you can ask questions on the aspects that you found tricky following beginners online tutorials. It was also very good value for money.

The venue was OK but could be better ( we were interrupted by another customer), the instructor was excellent very entertaining and knew what he was doing. The pack was good but an apron either plastic or cloth would have been useful also better gloves than are in the pack.

Sharon was very knowledgeable, she explained everything well, also why my attempts had gone wrong. All equipment was supplied. The only thing I would have changed was where the 1 to 1 was held, I think a small place off the shop floor would have been better, Sharon was interrupted by shopper asking for directions to items, but I understand you have to be near the Cricut equipment.
Overall I learned such a lot, and will be asking Santa for an Easypress machine for Christmas, so fingers crossed.

Booked on this course to see if I would get any use out of the Explore BEFORE I buy oneas it happens was only person on the course, so was able to have a complete exploration of the Cricut possibilities. It quickly became obvious that I would be disappointed with the Explore and we moved around to the Maker, which would mean that I would have to wait until the New Year before making a purchase because of the extra costs involved.
The demonstrator was lovely, and really knowledgable with plenty of suggestions.
In fact we ended up discussing the endless uses for this top end machine, and she shared some of her own projects as well as demonstrating various cutting and layout options.
She also pointed me towards the design app making the excellent suggestion that if I downloaded the free software and played with it over the Christmas holidays I would know my way around it before I got my machine next year. I only have a desktop computer so I would have to design things on there, but she pointed out that once I had saved my work in the app I could also have the app on my smart phone and connect via the bluetooth on the phone in any room where I had my Cricutan excellent idea that avoids my having to hard wire the desktop connection all the way into my roofspace crafting room.

I have never attended any classes held by hobby craft before, very surprised that I was the only person who came. Easy access to the top floor either via the steps or a purpose built lift for wheelchair/pram /disabled customers. The "box" I was given to use during the class,was sealed nice to know no one had messed with the contents. Fay was a very pleasant young lady who was very helpful and patient plus a happy personality.
The items in the box were of a good quality even for the beginner. Therefore yes I definitely would say good price to pay for the class and goodies

I was lucky enough to have a 121 session with Faye for the clay Christmas decoration class. It was a super laid back class, pretty self explanatory workshop, but it was nice to have professional guidance, especially for hints and tips. Can’t wait until my decorations have dried and I can hang them on the tree this Christmas. Would highly recommend for anyone. Will definitely be looking out for other workshops I can book on to.

My one to one tutorial was brilliant. It was very thorough and she answered all my questions. There were a few she could not answer but gave me contact details and where to go for more information. I would highly recommend it (and have already) to others to attend one. I have done a lot of research on line, but the one to one gave me the opportunity to ask questions directly relating to my needs rather than sitting through youtube clip hoping that they cover my question at some point. I currently do not have a Cricut Maker so was desperate to have a go and learn as much as I could before I bought one. My class was brilliant and I am about to by one today

The kit was good but as a novice at making wreaths it would have been helpful to have a picture of the wreath we were trying to make. Also wire cutters would have been useful. The instructor couldn't give ideas as a kit wasn't available for her to demonstrate with. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and went on to purchase a further garland and mini leaves to enhance the wreath further. bein

I had a lovely morning sitting and crafting. The colours of the contents of the box were beautifully balanced and the wreath looks great. A great way to start this autumn season.
Faye was fab; explained everything clearly and patiently, was terrifically knowledgeable, pleasant to chat with and made the whole thing an enjoyable experience.
I would certainly recommend these workshops.

The staff member was really friendly and kind but it wasn't really a 'workshop'. Children were provided with 2 packs of air dry clay and then invited to mould them into shaoes. Staff member had paper instructions for sea creatures but no demonstration or tools, just a table to sit at for an hour. Just a little uninspiring. In future I'd be more likely to buy the items like the clay and do it at home with a YouTube tutorial

The clay modelling session was great. The children all really enjoyed it so much all 3 (aged between 5 and 12) bought some clay to take home with tools.
The lady that led the session was very friendly, cheerful and encouraging with the children as they played with the clay.

Emily & Sharon have been our inspirators on more than 1 of the craft sessions. They are both extremely friendly and great with the kids. Mine was reluctant to join in on the 1st one but with Sharon's enthusiasm and patience, he was soon enjoying himself with tissue paper and glue decorating his dinosaur! Emily was great with the letter forming, we couldn't work out how to do the J, but thanks to Emily's abilities we were soon painting the canvas - and the table
Well ran and would definitely be recommending the classes to others as well as booking some more for Halloween as well as Christmas.

Great hour at Hobby craft and fab session. My daughter really enjoyed it and she is 10 years old.

The teacher Emily was really helpful and interested in the children and made it interesting and easy for them to follow the instructions.
She also spent time chatting to the children as well and made my daughter feel comfortable.

We bought a frame for the clay sea creatures and she put in the frame when we got home.

I attended a cricut 1-1 in Crewe, Sharon the teacher was very informative, lovely helpful lady, the only thing that would of made the class more enjoyable would of been to be able to sit down at a table away from the other customers, I have a bad leg & found it a little painful, I didn't mention this at the time, but I am sure I'm not the only person with a disability. I didn't have any issues with the knowledge & friendliness of Sharon the tutor.

Faye was amazing. Obviously very passionate about art and painting in particular which made it a joy. As did her guidance. We watched her demonstration before having a go ourselves. I’m thrilled with how my poured paint pics have come out! I can’t wait to collect them!

The venue was great. Nice open table and the great, handy kits provided. Nice selection of paints right out the box to get started with.

Great value for money in my opinion. You get tuition, a nice work area and you get to keep the paints to use again!

This was my first workshop (Knitted Cacti) I've ever attended at Hobbycraft and it was a very positive experience. The workshop was located upstairs in a nice secluded area and all of the materials and patterns were to hand in a big box. I haven't knitted for nearly 2 decades, but the teacher Sharon did a great job of helping me get back into the swing of things and I left with confidence that I could finish the rest at home. She also gave me information on how to get more support to complete the project should I get stuck. Overall, I was very happy with the experience and would definitely book another workshop in the future.

Good beginners tutorial - the teacher explained how to use the materials and how to get some different effects. It was really nice to experiment and try different ways to move the paint. It was a good starter pack. The shop was not that busy so there were no interruptions and plenty of space.

Teacher was knowlegable and made the workshop very interesting. She had practical examples but the wifi in store was terrible so she was unable to cover much more than cards and a banner. Learnt how to get started as a beginner but couldn't go into much detail as it took such a long time to demonstrate as the Cricut app kept failing.

Sharon was great and talked me through the cricut that most fitted my needs, she listened to what my interests are and walked me through how to achieve it using the machine available, only negative was no stock instore if machine so they ordered for delivery and after purchasing £450 worth of accessories the delivery machine was also out if stock, now i have to return to store to get my money back and i gave no cricut only very expensive accessories some which came as a bundle but i am then charged more for them as the machine was out of stock

Really enjoyed the course. Love all the wreath making materials in the box. It was a fun morning. Everyone had different ideas how to approach the project, which was great to see. Love crafting especially during the winter months, something to look forward to. Definitely recommend the course. Our tutor was very helpful and cheerful.

Faye the demonstrator was really friendly and is a credit to the Crewe store. The materials provided were excellent and lovely packaged. We learnt the basics of using the clay and it was a really fun hr and left me and my mum feeling happy and excited to try some more.

Teacher was very knowledgable and very helpful. Unfortunately there were technical issues out of her control which were a nuisance as she had to work from an iPad not a laptop so the menus on Design Space appeared in an unfamiliar form.

Thoroughly enjoyed the workshop, one other person, which was nice, nice to see Sharon again. from previous workshop that i had done, knew my name which was lovely. The workshop box was great, full of goodies, the boxes were slightly different. lots of ideas., and did buy some more items from the shop to do more at home, Well worth the £25, a good workshop

Lovely young lady took me through the makes. It was nice to have a one on one as there was nobody else taking the class. Not rushed and comfortable. Only downside was the cloche base did not have holes in to shine the led through. If I make another at home I will get hubby to drill a couple of holes in the base so the light shines up.

Sharon was so helpful, I have had my cricut machine since April and had watched lots of you tube videos but I was just still struggling to get my head around it all. Within 10 minutes Sharon explained more than I could have got from watching some videos. I highly recommend doing this one to one class, it’s so much more simple to use the machine now and I completed my first project an hour after getting back home. I know that I will become a cricut addict like everyone else that has this machine.

Disappointed only myself, but Sharon was very good, extremely helpful, it was great fun. Easy to do, except that the LED light on the base, did not shine through to the top , could have done with a little hole in the bit that you attach the trees houses to etc. it also made this base uneven.
Nice all coming in one box. Exciting to open and see what you have got I did buy afterwards a plastic paint tray, as I could put a little paint on it. Saves putting the paint brush in the pot, in case it toppled. Sharon had given me one to use in the workshop. Nice that the paint comes of fingers easily with soap and water.
Looking forward to my next workshop on Baubles beginning of November Thank you Sharon, a good workshop.

The area was upstairs and away from the busiest part of the store. The teacher was approachable, and easy to talk to, she was informative about my machine. She showed me several features I wasn't aware of. I'd asked for help with zips and particular stitches. I was asked before I came what I wanted help with, and to bring my machine and any project in with me. It became obvious after 15min that I was not going to do any sewing, this was not made clear in the emails I received. I also brought two types of zips and material. I only had verbal instructions which was a little disappointing. The materials supplied by Hobbycraft were several small material squares with printed stiches to practice on at home. It was obvious these were for beginners. I had expected to be shown how to insert and sew an invisible zip and shown stitches such as stitch in the ditch etc. These were only verbally explained, I was discouraged from using an invisible zip as "they were tricky". I wish to make dresses and top so this type of zip would be inevitable. I had explained before coming that I'd previously been a sewer but lacked confidence as I had not sewn for many years. Although there were gaps with sewing in the tuition I did feel I benefited from the course regarding the use of my machine.

Sharon is lovely, very knowledgeable about the cricut.
Hobby raft in Crewe is easy to find. The staff are all friendly and helpful
I took my own machine as they did not have a cricut explore 3 in demo yet.
We didn't actually print anything but we ( I took my 8 year old granddaughter along with me) leaned so much about the 'design space' software.
We left feeling a lot more confident about using the machine, the software and the available printing products. We could not wait to get home to try all the ideas that Sharon had given us.

The lady that took the session was fabulous, she taught me lots about my sewing machine. I am not quite a complete novice but not far off.
I have had the machine for a couple of years and hardly used it the lady showed me lots of tips and uses.
I definitely would recommend this session to anybody who wants to know the ins and outs of your machine. It is definitely worth the money.
I might have another session when I am more used to the machine, to learn more about the decorative stitches.
