Join Ho for a 4 week introduction to pottery - starting with handbuilding in week 1, then throwing and trimming in weeks 2 and 3. In week 4, you’ll be shown how to glaze your pieces.
4 WEEK COURSE - 5, 12, 19, 26 OCT (THURSDAYS ONLY)
Everyone will have their own pottery wheel, and there is a maximum of 6 people per class.
Week 1 will be an intro to clay and handbuilding, looking into how to make a pinch pot.
Week 2 will see the wheel come into play! It begin with the teacher giving a demonstration, then students will start with the very basics - weighing the clay, centering, pulling up the walls and using your tools. You’ll have a go at both bowl and cylinder forms.
Week 3 will teach trimming and finishing your pots, using a different set of tools and refining your pieces before they go through the kiln.
Week 4 is glazing week - you’ll learn the basics of glaze and what it is, how to apply it and what to expect when your pieces go through the kiln.
Each student can keep up to 6 pots per course. If you would like to keep more, there will be a £10 fee per pot to cover firing and handling costs.
After the first session, subsequent sessions can be arranged with the teacher, at a time that suits you.
This class is great for a team building activity, birthday or hen do.
Suitable for adults, and kids (minimum 13 years old).
