This full-day workshop offers a hands-on experience in the skill of hand engraving using traditional push tools. You will learn how to carve the intricate and timeless classic orange blossom onto a silver ring, guided by a master engraver, Dudley Withers.
Suitable for all levels and experience, this workshop will provide a thorough understanding of engraving techniques, tools, and artistic considerations.
It also includes our engraving starter kit so you can take the tools home to practise!
The kit includes:
  • Ring clamp
  • Square graver
  • Grain Tool
  • Sharpening Card & Polishing cloth
What skills will I learn?
  • Recognising and handling various engraving tools
  • Introduction to sharpening of engraving tools.
  • Preparing silver surfaces for engraving.
  • Transferring intricate designs onto metal surfaces.
  • Planning and laying out designs to ensure symmetry and balance.
  • Executing fundamental engraving strokes and lines.
  • Maintaining consistent hand pressure and control.
  • Developing precision in following design patterns.
  • Troubleshooting and correcting mistakes during engraving.
Participants will leave with a comprehensive set of skills that will enable them to continue practising and improving their engraving techniques.
