Get creative with clay and join us for an afternoon hand building class in our Hackney studio. This beginner-friendly class has been designed for anyone wanting to test their skills with clay and learn pottery basics.
The class will consist of a short introduction to the studio, the materials, and a hand building technique called "pinching". At the end of the class, you'll pick your favourite piece for us to glaze and fire for you. Your items will be ready to collect within eight weeks.
We'll guide you through each step of the process, ensuring you feel confident and inspired throughout. After just one afternoon, you'll leave feeling accomplished and excited about your newfound hand building pottery skills!
We will send you our student handbook a few days before the start of the class, with the information you need to know. You are welcome to bring your own apron or you can purchase a SkandiHus apron on the day.

Welcome to SkandiHus -- Walthamstow!
Our founder, Stine Dulong, quit her corporate lawyer job in 2013 to become a full time potter. For her, clay was a gateway into transformation. Not only did it become her career, and change the structure of her life on the surface, but it fundamentally shifted who she is and how she perceives the world. She had tried yoga and meditation, but it never “clicked” for her. Yet through pottery, she found a way into a slower, more mindful and joyous way of existing.
