3 x 4 hours Class size 1 to 2 guests       £350 (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

Join ceramic artist Emily Fraser for a three-day immersive workshop exploring the timeless technique of coil building.
Over three days, Emily will share her approach to creating sculptural, handbuilt vessels using simple coils to build expressive forms with real character. Through demonstrations and small-group guidance, you'll learn how to construct, refine and shape your vessel, embracing the beauty and rhythm of slow making.
Whether you're drawn to organic forms or contemporary ceramics, this workshop is a chance to develop your handbuilding skills while creating a unique piece to treasure. You'll start with the foundations of strong coil building, exploring proportion, balance and silhouette, before refining your vessel to reflect your own creative style. By the end of the course, you'll have created a substantial sculptural vessel that's both functional and expressive.
Each session runs for 4 hours.
You will learn:
  • The fundamentals of coil building for larger forms
  • How to build strong, balanced vessels
  • Techniques for shaping and refining sculptural forms
  • Tips for creating texture and surface interest
  • Emily's approach to making expressive, contemporary ceramics

Our modern pottery studio in the heart of London’s Design District in Greenwich welcomes both newcomers and experienced potters, ensuring there is a blend of fresh perspectives and seasoned wisdom. Whether you want to try out the pottery wheel, make your own designs using hand building techniques or attend a pottery painting session, there is something for everyone.
Pottery Studio LDN is the second studio by founder, Maritza Masiello.
Following the opening of her first studio in nearby Lee, SE London, she was overwhelmed by the growing pottery community. As demand grew, it was clear there was a need for a second studio. Maritza wanted to find a space which could hold more pottery courses and workshops for beginners and memberships for more experienced potters, as well as a dedicated space for group pottery painting events.
The Design District offers the perfect destination for this new direction, a home for inspiring creatives, and Pottery Studio LDN is proud to be part of the community!
