This hands-on activity is a wonderful opportunity to be skilfully guided through the process of shaping and blowing exquisite glass pieces.
You will start by choosing from a variety of beautiful glass colours. Then, you'll learn how to use traditional tools such as the punty, blowing iron, jacks, glass tweezers, and marver to craft a unique paperweight and a bauble, small vessel or bowl. The workshops are designed to be a practical experience, ensuring everyone gets to work with molten glass with expert support and guidance by their side.

Recent reviews of Glassblowing Workshop

  • 5/5 from Kaye Gugich, attended Sep 2026: Great class. Well organised. Good setup. Excellent instruction.
  • 4/5 from Julian Duplain, attended Sep 2026: Very interesting introduction to glassblowing and working with molton glass. The instructor was very friendly and helpful, as well as clear in her explanations. It's hard to get to grips with new techniques in a single afternoon, especially as a beginnner can't get on with any tasks unsupervised. So there is quite a lot of watching other class members being taken through the same steps. This is useful in itself, but it does mean that you spend much more time watching than doing. We learned two different tasks, but it might have been better to give everyone a chance to practice the same task twice. Anyway, it is certainly an enjoyable session - and simply seeing the furnace and the glass in its various liquid forms is fascinating. The host of the session was a great guy and all the organisational side was very well done.
  • 3/5 from Julian Walker, attended Aug 2026: Mixed on this. The teaching was excellent. The resources were very good. You are well and safely guided through the processes to make two pieces. The hands on time is inevitably small - the workshop duration, minus demonstration time, divided by the number of participants. For me this meant about 30 mins out of 3 1/2 hours. So bear his in mind when parting with £200.
  • 5/5 from Caryn Chamberlain, attended Jul 2026: The class was great. We really enjoyed the process and are really excited to see our vessels when they arrive!
  • 5/5 from Rajwinder Bhatoe, attended Jul 2026: Had an amazing time at the glassblowing workshop at Molton1090 on Saturday! I made a bud vase and a paperweight. The making itself was the best part. Perfect for beginners as the instructors were patient and gave really clear instructions. We got to practice each technique before doing it for real, which made a huge difference to my confidence. My pieces turned out way better than I expected! It was a genuinely great learning atmosphere. There was lots of helpful context given along the way and every question got answered. It was a hot day, and glassblowing is warm work at the best of times, so the team made sure to keep us topped up with water. They even handed out ice lollies, which was such a nice touch. I would definitely recommend it to anyone thinking about trying it, even total beginners.
  • 5/5 from Marie Dega, attended Jul 2026: It was a dream come true for me as I always have been in awe of glassblowers and the beautiful objects they can create! Charlie was very welcoming and kept making sure we were hydrated on this very hot day, by offering water and there were even biscuits!:-)) Dexter was very professional and both were very good regarding safety from burns, he was so patient considering he had to repeat himself for each of us but never lost his enthusiasm to explain his trade and very informative when I asked questions about the sand formation they used etc So I will certainly recommend this class and many friends were surprised [they never thought of glassblwoing!] and interested so maybe future clients! All the best Marie
  • 5/5 from Julia Lambret, attended Jul 2026: This is a lovely workshop. There are 6 people in total, and we take turns to make a paperweight and a small vase. The first one is for us to get used in dealing with the glass and the tools. And the second one, to get more into the glassblowing itself. All the team is very professional and attentive. It gives you a completely different perspective to glass making. Highly recommend it!
  • 5/5 from Michelle Chiu, attended Jun 2026: I booked this class as a wedding gift for my friend and I 100% recommend!! We were both very looked after and Laura and Emily were both fantastic. Thank you so much!! Hope to come again :)
  • 5/5 from Alexander Chambers, attended Jun 2026: All of the class was very good friendly And very interactive
  • 5/5 from Larissa Valls, attended May 2026: So much fun. Safe environment, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great experience
  • 5/5 from Claudia Button, attended Apr 2026: Had an awesome time with Emily, Shannon and Dexter - and the rest of the class. Shannon and Dexter were fantasic teachers and clearly very knowledgeable on glass. They made everyone feel empowered and like they could succeed. Can't wait to see our paperweights and tumblers!
  • 5/5 from Hannah Green, attended Apr 2026: My dad and I had such a brilliant afternoon. Emily, Shannon and Dexter couldn’t have been more welcoming and their knowledge and skills were incredible. They went above and beyond to accommodate me and my disability, and made the whole afternoon stress free and enjoyable. We had so much fun and cannot wait to receive our items in the post! Couldn’t recommend this course more highly, such a cool skill to learn, in a safe, cosy and welcoming environment.
  • 5/5 from Sophie Lockwood, attended Apr 2026: Had an amazing time at the Molten1090 glassblowing workshop. The instructors leading the class were patient and considered in their explanations, and helped us to find our own style in our finished pieces. The welcome was warm and the workshop is considered so that we were all guided through the process while we were working, but engaged when we were waiting. The booking process was smooth and I was able to use two vouchers against my booking, which was great.
  • 5/5 from Nicole Vittori, attended Mar 2026: The guys were amazing, so lovely and knowledgeable. There was the right level of teaching and assisting with the making of your piece. The space is also very cute, with the supply of blankets if it gets cold. I also purchased a couple of stunning products at the end with the 15% discount they gave me. Lastly, aside from the class being well run, I loved the sustainability concept of the store and would really endorse these artists going forward by buying even more items in the future
  • 5/5 from Conor Howell-Harte, attended Mar 2026: Gayle and Dexter were really knowledgeable and friendly. Had such a fun day out.
  • 5/5 from Jerome Joaug, attended Feb 2026: Very good intro course. Shannon and Gail were amazing teachers and made the whole course quite fun.
  • 5/5 from Christophe Plouvier, attended Feb 2026: Loved the experience. Very friendly atmosphere and relax environment to exchange ideas of design and learn techniques to use on the day as well as more general glassblowing stories. Great guidance throughout the session. Thank you
  • 5/5 from Constance Littlehailes, attended Nov 2025: The team were ace! So patient and they clearly really enjoy their work. The colours available were gorgeous. There were quite a few of us in the session, so the wait for each of us to get to do the glassblowing felt a little long but it was interesting getting to see what everyone made.
  • 5/5 from Anthony Davey, attended Nov 2025: Cheerful and careful teachers. Six in the group, and we all got to make a paperweight, coloured to our choice and with internal bubbles, and a glass ball for a Christmas tree, also coloured to our choice. Andy pushed with a glass of wine. I’d highly rate this for an instructive and fun afternoon.
  • 4/5 from Charley Davis, attended Nov 2025: Lovely class leaders who were knowledgable and very patient. Really enjoyed the class however due to the class size (8) there is a lot of sitting around whilst everyone has their turn. The class is 4 hours long but probably only 40 mins of that is actually doing something. Tea and coffee provided would also be lovely
  • 5/5 from Sally Yuen, attended Oct 2025: The instructors were very friendly and patient with explaining to us the steps and about glas blowing. It was a very fun and unique experience.
  • 5/5 from Albert Esiri, attended Aug 2025: Very engarging and the safty awareness is commendable. We all had a lovely day. Many thanks

‘Make with Molten’ is the workshop arm of glassware brand Molten 1090, founded by sisters Laura and Emily Smith in 2022. Day-to-day we create handblown glass tableware, lighting and decorative objects with a circular design ethos, but we also open our Stoke Newington studio doors for hands-on workshops, inviting people to experience the ancient craft of glassblowing.
Our team of experienced glass artisans will lead you through this creative journey step by step, showing you how to use specialised tools, apply glass colour, and to shape and blow glass. You’ll make your own glass creations and (after they’ve cooled down in the kiln) have some beautiful handcrafted pieces to adorn your home.
