Glassblowing Bowl Making Class

Learn about glassblowing in London and make your own bowl from scratch.

4 hours Class size 6 to 10 guests       £200 (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

In this immersive glassblowing workshop in London, you’ll create more than just a handblown glass bowl. Whether it becomes a resting place for jewellery, a dish for nibbles with friends, or a piece that simply catches the light by your front door, your finished bowl will be both functional and uniquely yours.
This workshop is perfect for beginners, with no prior experience needed. Glassblowing may look complex but you’ll be supported every step of the way. The class is designed to be hands-on and confidence-building, ensuring everyone can enjoy the rare and rewarding process of working with molten glass.
What to expect:
  • Start by making a solid glass paperweight, the perfect way to learn gathering, colouring, and shaping techniques.
  • Move on to your second piece: a handblown bowl, choosing from a variety of colours.
  • Learn to inflate molten glass, control its form, and finish it into a piece to treasure.
  • Gain experience with traditional tools such as the blowing iron, jacks, and paddles.
  • Leave with two unique creations: your paperweight and bowl, ready to collect after cooling.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll walk away with two handmade glass pieces, new skills, and the joy of having shaped molten glass into something extraordinary.
What you'll get
  • Your own handcrafted glass paperweight and bowl (shipping of your finished pieces is included in the workshop price).
  • Expert guidance through the whole process.
  • Refreshments and snacks throughout.

‘Make with Molten’ is the workshop arm of glassware brand Molten 1090, founded by sisters Laura and Emily Smith in 2022. Day-to-day we create handblown glass tableware, lighting and decorative objects with a circular design ethos, but we also open our Stoke Newington studio doors for hands-on workshops, inviting people to experience the ancient craft of glassblowing.
Our team of experienced glass artisans will lead you through this creative journey step by step, showing you how to use specialised tools, apply glass colour, and to shape and blow glass. You’ll make your own glass creations and (after they’ve cooled down in the kiln) have some beautiful handcrafted pieces to adorn your home.
