What you'll do
Get creative at this fun jewellery making class and learn how to make your own earrings using beautiful cabochon gemstones.
You'll need some prior experience in jewellery making to do this class. Check out your teacher's other jewellery making workshops if you'd like to get started with something more beginner-friendly before giving this earring making session a go.
During this full-day class, you'll learn how to make a pair of earrings perfect for you.
Guided by your expert teacher, you'll learn how to:
- Create a bezel setting from silver.
- Pierce out metal using a piercing saw.
- Silver solder.
- File and shape using hand tools.
- Polish your work by hand and using a pendant drill.
- Set a cabochon stone in a bezel setting.
You'll gain a range of jewellery making skills and enhance your ability to work with silver and jewellery making tools. By the end of your craft class, you'll have a beautiful set of gemstone earrings to wear home!

Collette Dawn is a jewellery designer and maker based in Greater London. Since graduating from Glasgow School of Art 20 years ago, with a BA Hons in Silversmithing and Jewellery, Collette Dawn has continued to create private commissions as well as teaching jewellery making classes.
From her studio, Collette Dawn offers tailor-made jewellery making classes and workshops, where you can choose from a selection of projects and learn how to personalise them to suit your own tastes.
