Flower Resin Workshop: Learn Bouquet Preservation Skills

Join us at The River Shop for a hands-on flower preservation workshop in London with guest teacher Botanica & Field. Combining a love of nature, botanical knowledge and thoughtful resin flower preservation, this beginner-friendly workshop introduces you to the process of transforming dried blooms into beautiful resin keepsakes.No previous experience is needed. You’ll be guided through each stage of the process, from preparing dried flowers and mixing resin to positioning botanicals and building layers, with plenty of guidance to help you work with confidence.What to expect:

• Learn about silica flower drying and why it’s used to prepare flowers for resin, including which flowers are best suited to resin encapsulation.
• Discover how to clean and prepare dried flowers, remove residual silica and assess when they’re ready for resin.
• Learn to mix and handle resin safely and understand the different stages of curing.
• Practice reducing and managing bubbles, positioning flowers and building balanced layers.
• Place your prepared flowers into a mould to create your own resin paperweight or larger floral keepsake, depending on the mould available.
• Work with a pre-cured demonstration piece to experience later stages of the process, including additional layers and the final pour.
• Learn techniques that can be applied to larger bouquet preservation projects at home.

The flowers used in the workshop are grown and harvested on a family farm in Suffolk, then carefully dried and prepared before making their way to London. You’ll gain an insight into this slower, more considered approach to preserving botanicals and creating long-lasting resin pieces.As resin flower preservation is a staged process, your own piece cannot be completed from start to finish within the three-hour session. You’ll receive a finished resin piece once complete, along with the practical knowledge and confidence to continue experimenting with your own meaningful flowers at home.
