I’m an illustrator and designer with over 20 years of experience, and I also run global marketing campaigns for big brands. Being creative has always been my thing, and I founded Doodle Penpal Social to offer a different kind of creative space: one where we can be open about our drawing thought processes, swap ideas, and enjoy creating together without overthinking.
The Story Behind Doodle Penpal Social
It all started with a good friend of mine who lives on another continent. Whenever she travels, she takes the time to make, personalise, and handwrite a postcard with her reflections and travel stories to send to me.
Finding a personalised, handwritten card in the letterbox instead of the usual bills and junk mail is exciting, heartwarming, and something to treasure forever. Sure, we can check each other's updates on social media, but receiving physical paper and ink feels so much more real and deeply personal.
Most of us doodled as kids. As life gets busy, our downtime is often consumed by doomscrolling and sending soulless digital messages. We jump from small screens to medium screens to big screens all day long, sanitised by quick online greetings.
Doodle Penpal Social is a great way to step away from the digital world, get back to basics with paper and ink, and simply chat and connect with lovely people. Leave the digital drawing pad and devices at home, and give yourself a proper break.
