Dog lovers! Art lovers! How about putting dogs in art?

2 hours Class size 1 to 8 guests       £42 (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

Learn how to put dogs into art, in this fun and creative workshop. Using oil pastels, you’ll recreate a famous artist’s painting featuring dogs, showcasing your own style and interpretation.
Don’t worry if you’re new to art or oil pastels – this workshop is designed for beginners and will be a relaxed and supportive environment.
Dogs have been depicted throughout the ages since Prehistoric times. They have been used to symbolise loyalty and fidelity, wealth and status; in hunting scenes, and in portraits of master or mistress. Until the present day their enduring companionship is evidenced in the popularity of dog portraiture.
  • Gain inspiration from well-known artists like Bonnard, Piero di Cozimo, Munch, and Landseer, learning mark-making and oil pastel techniques such as blending, cross-hatching, and sgraffito.
  • Oil pastels are easy to work with – no need for brushes or turpentine. Your finished masterpiece can be taken home immediately, ready to frame and display.
Immerse yourself in the world of dog portraiture, enjoying a drink or slice of cake during the workshop, all available to purchase at the venue.
No prior experience is necessary, and all materials will be provided.
Discover the joy of creating art with dogs as your subject, and leave with a unique piece to cherish or gift.
The class can be taken as a stand-alone or as a departure point for creating a picture of a dog you know and love in a second follow-up workshop.

A silversmith by trade, she wanted to open a cosy venue where people could come and take part in a variety of workshops while drinking a coffee and enjoying a slice of cake.
As this is a cafe, we ask you not to bring in external food and drink.
