What you'll do
Take some time out to try something new and learn about Japanese carving with this craft box to complete in the comfort of your home.
Japanese carving is a stunning art form born in Japan. It involves carving with a soft vinyl sheet and a chisel. Carvings created in this way are uniquely beautiful, sharing some of the attractiveness of stained glass.
This type of carving is unlike wood carving and is much easier to complete, requiring much less force to create wonderful results.
The approximate size of your carving will be 76mm x 76mm. The frame is approximately 110mm x 110mm.
This DIY carving craft kit can easily be finished at home – all you need is a flat surface to work from. The work involves attaching a coloured film to the back of your carving and working over your engraving until a black outline remains.
Enjoy the peace and calm that settling down to some Japanese carving can bring, learn a new skill and create a lovely piece of carved art to be proud of!
Please note:
If you're not going to work on your craft kit as soon as it arrives, put your engraving sheet in the plastic bag provided in your box to store it until you're ready to use it.
When complete, please put your engraved sheet in a frame to preserve it.
If your engraving is kept in close contact with other vinyl sheets for a long time, the paint may peel off.
Avoid direct exposure to sunlight as this may cause the colours in your carving to fade.
