Begin by selecting your pillar candle, then explore a range of inspiring geode, stone and rustic designs. You'll decide on your own style, colour palette and overall composition before sketching out your ideas and planning your unique candle pillar.
Build the Plaster Structure
Learn how to create the mould that forms the decorative candle pillar around your candle. You'll mix and pour plaster using professional techniques to achieve a strong, durable structure before learning how to sculpt, carve and distress the surface to create the appearance of aged stone, weathered concrete and fractured rock.
Create the Geode Design
While your plaster cures, browse our extensive collection of semi-precious stones, crystals, decorative glass, beads and mixed-media embellishments. You'll experiment with different layouts and carefully design the geode cavity that will become the focal point of your piece.
Paint and Add Special Effects
Bring your candle pillar to life using a variety of decorative painting techniques to create realistic stone, concrete, metallic and antique finishes. If you'd like, you'll also learn optional gilding techniques to highlight details and add a luxurious finishing touch.
Build the Crystal Geode
Secure your chosen stones and decorative materials to create a stunning crystal geode effect. You'll also have the option of learning how to work with UV resin to encapsulate semi-precious stones and decorative elements, creating beautiful crystal-clear depth and sparkle.
Seal & Take Home Your Creation
Complete your candle pillar by applying a protective varnish for a durable, professional-quality finish. Your finished piece is ready to display—simply place your favourite pillar candle inside and enjoy a completely unique handcrafted centrepiece that you've designed and built yourself.
