2.5 hours Class size 4 to 12     label £5 (£250 per class surcharge applies for private classes)

Looking for unique team-building ideas in London that your crew won't forget in a hurry? Join Emma from Socko and learn how to mend your own clothes at this fun darning class.

During this 2.5 hour workshop, you'll begin with a brief history of mending techniques, exploring different cultures and artists and looking at examples and tools. The rest of the class will focus on practical skills and hands-on techniques, as Socko founder Emma teaches you how to darn your own clothing, starting on samplers.

No previous sewing skills are needed, so whether you're a seasoned sewer or have never threaded a needle before, you'll come away with a colourful mended patch or two, as well as this essential life skill for keeping a more sustainable wardrobe.

Please note: as this class will be held at a location of your choosing, there will be an additional charge to cover travel costs.

Emma is the founder of sustainable British sock brand Socko. Socko’s mission is to extend the active life of clothing by re-teaching the lost art of darning. Emma’s dream of Socko began when searching for meaning in her work. She saw that her job satisfaction came when she was able to connect what she’d done with her working day with its positive impact upon others. Through combining her talent for craft with her love of people and planet, she identified her business idea. Socko launched its very first pair of sustainable socks at the end of 2018. Emma lives in north-east London with her partner and their sausage dog Alan.
