I am Hannah Kay, a mama and visual artist born and raised in China and now living in Walthamstow. After being a fine jeweller for ten years I took a taster pottery course with my sister in law and fell in love with clay. I create collections that plays with cultural identity, exploring the bridges between East and West, Old and New. I love leading workshops and teaching people how to create beautiful things that they feel proud of.

I have been leading porcelain earring painting workshops as a way to teach people more about traditional cobalt painting and so that people don’t feel this craft is out of reach for everybody. The finished earrings are always beautifully unique and I’ve never seen two pairs the same. Whether it’s something to keep for themselves (often saying they become their go-to earrings) or made as a gift for a loved one, these earring workshops have been a lovely way to connect this ancient art with the community.
