Mending

Join this creative upcycling and mindful mending workshop in North Acton, where slow fashion meets creative mindfulness to help you reconnect with your creativity while cutting down on waste.
You'll begin with a short guided meditation to help you settle into a calm, creative flow, before customising your chosen piece using ready-made iron-on patches or crafting your own from fabric scraps. Along the way, you'll pick up simple hand-sewing skills, learn how to create a patch with iron-on backing, and discover easy ways to repair stains or holes – techniques you can easily repeat at home to breathe new life into your favourite garments.
During the workshop, you'll:
  • Start with a short guided meditation to ease into a creative flow
  • Customise your piece with pre-made patches or a handmade one from fabric scraps
  • Learn hand-sewing basics, patch-making and simple repair techniques for stains and holes
No sewing experience or artistic talent needed – just bring along something you'd love to reinvent or repair. It's a warm, low-pressure space for absolute beginners and seasoned makers alike, kept intimate with a maximum of 10 people so everyone gets plenty of support.
When it comes to what to bring, think natural fabrics – sweatshirts, cotton totes, jackets, t-shirts, trousers, dresses, denim and linen all work beautifully. Please leave fully synthetic items, swimwear, leather, heavily embellished pieces and shoes at home.
You'll leave with a refreshed, personalised piece you love, a handful of repair skills for the future, and a welcome dose of calm, creative headspace.
Suitable for ages 15 and above. Duration: 90 minutes.
Please note: tickets are fully refundable up to 48 hours before the workshop. After that, you're welcome to transfer your ticket to a friend – as this is a small, intimate session with limited spots, refunds aren't available within 48 hours of the event.

I'm the founder of Atelier Zorro, a creative studio I started during lockdown as a way to stay grounded, learn new skills, and create with my hands. What began as a personal outlet quickly became a passion for upcycling, mending, hand-sewing, and pressed flower art.
For me, creativity isn't about perfection, it's about curiosity, self-expression, and rediscovering the joy of making something uniquely your own. In a world of mass production and endless scrolling, creating and customising your own pieces allows your personality to shine through.
I've been running Atelier Zorro for over six years and am entirely self-taught, though creativity has been part of who I am since childhood.
One lesson I've learned through my craft is that creativity is like exercise for the brain: the more we practise it, the stronger our imagination, problem-solving skills, and confidence become.
My workshops are designed to help people embrace learning, let go of perfectionism, and reconnect with their creative side in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
Whether we're stitching patches onto well-loved clothing or creating art from pressed flowers, my goal is simple: to help people experience the satisfaction of making something meaningful with their own hands.
