What you'll do
Discover the art of candle-making in this London workshop, where you’ll create your own layered soy wax or beeswax candles. With a choice of moulds from geometric and curvy designs to classic pillars, candle sticks, or even a quirky skull -- you’ll craft candles that are as unique as you are.Perfect for beginners, this class is relaxed and creative. Guided step by step by Claire, you’ll learn everything from preparing wicks and melting wax to blending dyes and essential oils for gorgeous scents. You’ll leave with both the skills and confidence to carry on candle-making at home!What to expect:
- Learn how to prepare wicks and set up moulds for perfect results.
- Discover safe and accurate techniques for melting wax and adding colour.
- Choose from a wide range of silicone moulds to make your candles your own!
- Experiment with layering colours and blending natural essential oils.
- Use any leftover wax to create fun little wax melts in shapes like leaves, flowers, cubes, or cacti.
- Take home 2–3 custom candles plus wax melts, posted directly to you after the workshop.

Hi, my name is Claire, and I’m an artist/crafter/designer based in NW London. I run ‘Dotty by design’ making unique and bespoke hand-made products. I have been up-cycling for two decades now, and sharing my love for all things ‘craft’ through teaching and running classes. Creativity is at the heart of all the projects I work on, harnessing the joy in the making process and sharing my passion of ‘re-using, recycling and sustaining’ in everything I do.I studied Furniture and Product design at BCUC in High Wycombe before moving to West London and working at Habitat, where my love of design had first evolved when visiting the store as a child. Since those early years, I have been on a creative journey which has encompassed all areas of art and design, including - product, craft, interiors, architecture, food, jewellery, illustration and printmaking to name but a few! I am very much a multidisciplinary designer, where a balance of form and function is key to creating engaging sustainable products that have a conscience, and considered thought for the beautiful planet we live on.
