In this practical gardening workshop in London, you'll discover how to create thriving miniature gardens in containers, whether for a balcony, windowsill, or as dynamic elements in a larger garden. You'll learn essential techniques for successful container growing, from soil selection to plant combinations that work in challenging urban conditions.
The session addresses specific challenges like high-rise balcony exposure and artificial environments, providing tested solutions for these unique growing situations. You'll gain knowledge about sustainable growing media alternatives to peat, including how to create your own custom mixes for different plant needs.
The session will explore:
  • Types of containers, choosing plants that will work well in them, and grouping plants together
  • High-rise balconies and dealing with the exposure they might create for plants; artificial landscapes and how to deal with them for best effect
  • Growing media - avoiding peat, what is available, what you can mix yourself, and what suits your plant choices
  • Drainage, feeding, and other maintenance tasks to ensure ongoing success
You'll leave with the confidence to create and maintain beautiful container gardens that can flourish in any setting. The workshop includes guidance on crucial care aspects like drainage and feeding schedules, ensuring your container gardens thrive throughout the seasons.
