Day one
Methods and Experimentation Day one will introduce the two main casting materials that we will be using through several quick moulding and casting exercises including making relief panels from clay and sketch moulds from plastic sheet/cardboard. We will follow this up by exploring colouring through making bowl forms to also understand reinforcement of plaster to enable it be cast hollow. We will end the day with by discussing possible personal projects for the following day and other techniques that participants might wish to see demonstrated.
Day 2
Personal Project and Extrapolation The second day is an open-ended exploration of the techniques learnt on day one through the development of a small personal project. The tutor will be on hand to assist and go over techniques explored on the first day and offer advice and possible routes for development.
