Hi, I’m Louise, and I’m the person behind Lou's Colourful Crafters.
I’ve always been a hands-on, creative person, but what started as “a bit of crafting at the kitchen table” slowly grew into something much bigger. Over time I realised that crafting wasn’t just about making something pretty… it was about how it made me feel. Confident. Creative. Properly recharged.
The real turning point for me was seeing how powerful creativity can be when you share it with other people. There’s something special about sitting around a table (or on a Zoom call!) chatting, laughing, swapping ideas, and leaving with something you didn’t think you could make.
That’s why I love teaching.
I’m a qualified primary teacher with 30 years of experience, so teaching and encouraging others has always been a huge part of who I am. I love taking something that feels a bit intimidating at first and making it simple, friendly and achievable. I genuinely believe everyone can craft. You don’t need to be “arty”, you just need someone to show you step-by-step and remind you it’s meant to be fun.
Watching people relax, grow in confidence, and start saying “I actually love this!” is my favourite part.
Over the years I’ve taught lots of workshops and craft sessions, from quick projects to full retreats. Some people come along for the crafting, some come for the company, and most come for both. Many return again and again, and that’s the part I’m most proud of: creating a welcoming space where people feel included.
Something people don’t always realise about crafting is that it isn’t just about the finished project. It’s about the conversations while you make it. It’s about learning new skills without pressure. It’s about friendship, laughter, and doing something just for you.
That’s what Lou's Colourful Crafters is really about.
If you’re brand new, you’ll be welcomed. If you’ve been crafting for years, you’ll fit right in. And if you’re someone who just wants a fun time with friendly people and a bit of creative time, you’re exactly who I do this for.
