Learn how to create a traditional Chinese braided bracelet adorned with jade in this cultural craft workshop. You'll master authentic braiding techniques whilst discovering the deep symbolism and significance of jade in Chinese tradition.
This beginner-friendly activity welcomes everyone—no jewellery-making experience needed. Your experienced instructor will guide you through each step of crafting your bracelet, sharing insights about jade's historical importance and its role in traditional Chinese medicine.
As you work with high-quality materials, including authentic jade beads and traditional cords, you'll learn about the meaning behind different thread colours and how they represent various virtues and blessings in Chinese culture. Each element you weave carries its own significance, allowing you to create a deeply personal piece.
You'll leave with your own handcrafted jade bracelet, enriched by understanding of its cultural significance and the meaningful traditions woven into every strand. This meaningful piece serves as both a beautiful accessory and a connection to centuries of Chinese crafting heritage.

  • 5/5 from Ines Ng, attended May 2025: Emily was such an amazing teacher! I had a wonderful time learning from her and the class was really informative. Emily was happy to dive deeper into any topics I was interested in, dedicating extra time to me to help me learn more complex knots and explore the craft more deeply. The setting was calm, clean, and inviting, and Emily even made me a cup of tea! She is clearly a master at this craft and has a tradition of weaving and knotting in her family, but her information was never overwhelming. She showed me many different examples of jade and taught me all of the traditional names of the types of stones and knots, and then offered me several components to choose from to create my own piece, whilst also explaining the significance of each part. The equipment was easy to use and I created a beautiful bracelet with her gentle guidance and support! I had a wonderful time and would reccomend to anyone, so glad I took a chance on this class. Thank you Emily!

I got started with my craft at a young age, inspired by the intricate designs and rich symbolism found in traditional Chinese jewellery. Growing up, I was surrounded by the beautiful craftsmanship of my family and the cultural stories they represented. This deep-rooted connection to my heritage sparked my passion for creating pieces that embody these traditions.
One pivotal moment for me was when I began to learn about the meanings behind various Chinese symbols. I discovered how they resonated with people’s lives, providing a sense of personal connection and spirituality. This realization fueled my desire to incorporate these elements into my designs, allowing me to create pieces that are not just adornments, but also carry profound significance.
I invite you to join me in exploring the beauty and significance of traditional Chinese jewellery through an engaging jewellery-making class. Each piece we create will not only be a unique work of art but also a reflection of the rich stories and cultural values that inspire this craft. My goal is to celebrate and preserve these cherished traditions, while empowering you to express your creativity and connect with your heritage. Together, we will unlock the secrets of this exquisite art form, making it accessible for everyone who appreciates its beauty and meaning.
