We were taught how to use the band saw, belt sander, bobbin sander, orbital sander to make our own design of board from sapele wood. At the end we finished them with hemp oil and beeswax. An awesome class! We both really enjoyed it and would wholeheartedly recommend it!

We created charcuterie boards from scratch and the process was broken down to give a real idea of how they are made. The class takes approximately 3 hours to complete and you can have as many breaks as you wish, with access to a kitchen and water and toilets. The best part was learning the process of how it's made and being able to actually use the high tech machinery on site to make the boards, would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking to do a class, groups are also welcome so perfect team activity day for friends, colleagues and families.
• 5/5 from Nicole Fitzpatrick, attended Jun 2026: I took my partner to this class as a birthday gift, and while he was initially a bit sceptical about making a charcuterie board, he was quickly won over by the creative possibilities. He ended up having a great time and being really happy with the board he made.  It's a brilliant gift for someone who likes making things with their hands (and eating cured meats and picky bits). After an early woodworking failure at school, I wasn't at all confident in my abilities, but Johanna's instructions were great, and with her guidance, I was able to bring my vision to life.  This project is a great introduction to woodworking. You get to use some fun tools to make something practical that's totally doable within the time allowed and provides the opportunity to be creative. There were three people in our class so everyone got plenty of time and attention, and each of our boards looked so different, but they all turned out so well.  It was such fun way to spend a few hours and then to get to take home a unique piece. I can't wait to have people over for cheese and charcuterie and be able to brag that I made the board myself. Highly recommend!

It was really satisfying to use all the power tools and learn why they’re used, and the end result looks amazing. Friends and family can’t believe they aren’t professional. Our instructor helped us along the way but didn't micro manage or hover. It was a super cool experience - so nice to do something with your hands and bring home your board that day. Would definitely recommend if you're thinking about it!

The time flew by and before I knew it I was oiling the board for that final finish. Wonderful workshop, I enjoyed every minute of it (and might have a bit of a woodworking bug now!)

The workshop location is in a spacious and quiet garden, you get to enjoy the calmness of nature. The timber material I got was a beautiful sapele, sustainability sourced. Overall I’ll rate this experience 10/10. Under Johanna’s guidance, the final product was so gorgeous.

THe project of coming away with two chopping boards was very methodically demonstrated, using all the tools and machines available to shape and smooth an ordinary plank of British Ash wood! We were delighted with the end product which we will use in our kitchen. A very goodexperience and good value bearing in mind all thge paraphanalia available. Good fun! and differen! Colin Bruce

The teacher was very nice and easy to chat with, and she also gave me tips/answered questions about some wood projects I'm doing myself too. It was interesting learning about all of the tools and getting a chance to use them/practice. The board looks great and I can't wait to use it!

We both had an amazing time making our charcuterie boards! We got to choose the type of wood we wanted to use and managed to use our own design too! He loved using the tools and learning from Johanna. Johanna is a fantastic teacher and incredibly patient…even with people like me who doesn’t really have much creativity! Johanna and Harry were absolutely delightful - so friendly and encouraging and clearly very talented too. We went as a family with our teenage son and none of us had used equipment like that before. We were given a thorough (but fun!) safety talk and help with using all the equipment. We were encouraged to do everything ourselves (from initial design to final oiling) but Johanna and Harry were always there to gently step in if we needed a helping hand. A fantastic and memorable afternoon and we will certainly be recommending Johanna and Harry’s workshop to family and friends. Thank you!

I would love to have tried more complex woodwork, but as we know it can’t be rushed, and there’s only so much that can be achieved and completed in the hours available. The end product was exactly what I had pictured when I drew the design out.

The 1:1 attention we received was so helpful and being a small class we were able to ask lots of questions. The teaching was top quality and felt very professional yet welcoming. We ran over 2 hours but it was great as we managed to finish and perfect our boards. We’d love to come back and make something else next time, as we feel we learned some great new skills!
