Ceramics Workshop: Plant Pots and Vases

Treat your plant pals to some handmade homes with this ceramics class in London.

4 hours Class size 1 to 12 (public classes), 4 to 17 label £75

Ever wanted to get started with pottery but didn't know where to begin? This half-day pottery workshop in London is the perfect place to dive in! Whether you're an aspiring artisan or are looking for a unique gift for a proud plant parent, you'll learn to create personalised plant pots that'll take pride of place on any shelf.

Beginning with a tour of your hosts' welcoming studio space in Peckham, you'll be shown the ins and outs of all the tools and materials you'll be using to create your pots. After these expert demonstrations, it'll be your turn to get to work for yourself!

Starting with extruding your clay into coils for a professional finish, you'll be hand-building your choice of a large plant pot with a matching holding tray, or a series of mini pots that are ideal for succulents. Whichever you choose, the design is up to you — feel free to let your imagination run wild! You'll also get the chance to have a go on the throwing wheel if you're feeling confident.

Once this half-day session is over, you'll be able to choose your own colour and style of glaze, before leaving your ceramics in your hosts' capable hands. They'll then be professionally glazed before being fired in a kiln, giving your pot a beautiful, unique finish!

Please note:
Due to the time it takes to glaze and fire each piece, your pot(s) will be ready for collection from the studio within 3 weeks. Alternatively, they can be shipped to you within the UK for a cost of £12 /person or £15 for two.

My son is autistic and I wanted him to try a creative and expressive medium this summer. Accompanied by his sister both found the Saturday class extremely relaxing, both enjoyed the class, and both created a number of pieces that once fired they can collect in three weeks time.
The teacher was friendly and helpful.
Both said they would enjoy another class.

We (my husband, 10 year old daughter and I) attended a class led by Lenny as a birthday treat. Lenny was great from the beginning right the way through. She demonstrated clearly and was always on hand to assist. We were all socially distances and provided with aprons and all the tools we need. The atmosphere was lovely with some chill music playing and Lenny was funny and upbeat! We had time to create 2 pieces each and decorate them and learn how to build clay by hand. I would definitely recommend. We had a great time!

Teacher was friendly, showed us the technique and then gave us lots of freedom on what to create. Think about what you'd like to make beforehand, as there was a lot of choice! She comes round and is hands on if you need help, but is happy to leave you alone if you prefer. Teacher was generous with materials (I thought we would only be able to make 1 item, but it seemed to be unlimited). There was jazz music playing and the studio was really relaxing. Clothes got a bit messy, no aprons were given, but it washed out.
