Carve something beautiful and learn some new skills at this Japanese art class online.
Taught by an experienced artist and crafter, you'll be shown how to create a wonderful piece of art using a soft vinyl sheet and a chisel. The effect you create is as beautiful as stained glass and each mark you make will be unique.
Unlike wood carving, carving into vinyl is much less labour-intensive but still produces attractive results. You'll gain lots of new knowledge about Japanese art and the development of this craft as you learn from your talented teacher.
You may not complete your piece within your online class time but you'll be given all the information and instruction you need to finish it off independently. All you need is the materials in the craft box that will be delivered to your door, and a flat surface to work on. The light will shine beautifully through your finished artwork, making it a joy to display in your home.
This is a relaxing and calming craft to enjoy, and once you have the skills and tools provided through this art class, you'll be able to work on more pieces by yourself. By the end of your Japanese carving activity, you'll have a unique and beautiful piece of art to treasure.

  • 5/5 from Amelia Miabatoussa, attended Mar 2026: We had an incredible time with the team for the Japanese Carving workshop! Our teacher was patient, nice and very involved; clearly an expert, making the intricate techniques feel accessible even for beginners. We spent the session learning this traditional 'Carve' style and walking away with our own hand-made pieces. Highly recommend this for any group looking for a unique, creative experience!
