Cane Basketweaving Class

Enjoy an introduction into basketweaving at this fun workshop in South West London.

3 hours Class size 1 to 10 guests       £45 (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

In this hands-on basket weaving workshop, you'll learn how to create your own traditional English stake and strand basket using time-honoured weaving techniques. Throughout the session, you'll master the fundamental methods of basket construction while crafting a small, colourful basket to take home.
This creative activity is perfectly suited for complete beginners, with no previous weaving experience necessary. You'll discover that with proper guidance, creating beautiful woven pieces is both accessible and enjoyable.
During the workshop, you'll work with colourful cane, an ideal material for beginners as it's gentler on the hands than traditional willow, allowing you to focus on learning the techniques and rhythm of weaving. You'll be guided through each step of the process, from constructing the base to weaving the sides and finishing with a border, creating a complete basket during your session.
By the end of this relaxing workshop, you'll have acquired valuable basket weaving skills that form the foundation for future projects, along with your own handcrafted small basket – a functional and decorative piece to enjoy at home. The peaceful garden setting enhances the experience, with a small café on site where you can enjoy refreshments during or after the workshop, or you're welcome to bring along your own snacks.
