Join this pottery class at The Art Bus in the beautiful surroundings of Buckland Park and discover the relaxing and playful art of hand-building. This traditional pottery technique lets you shape clay entirely by hand, offering a slower, more mindful process that’s perfect if you're looking to switch off and get creative.
In this beginner-friendly workshop, you'll learn how to hand-build your 2 candle holders using the slab building method. Over two hours, you'll experiment with texture and form to craft a piece that feels completely personal. Your teacher, Lisa, will be there to guide you through every step of the making process, ensuring you feel supported as you get hands-on with the clay.
After the session, Lisa will carefully fire your creations at her home studio and dip glaze each piece for a professional finish. Your one-of-a-kind candle holders will be ready to collect from The Art Bus within three weeks of the class.
You'll leave this session feeling refreshed and inspired, awaiting your beautiful handmade keepsake to use every morning.
Please note: Your pieces will be ready for collection from the venue within three weeks.

I’ve been working with clay for the past five years, beginning as a hobby and gradually evolving into a fulfilling creative career. I’m drawn to the calming, meditative nature of ceramics—it has a way of grounding you in the present moment. Each of my pieces is handcrafted in my small home studio in Surrey, where I enjoy exploring different forms and creating functional work that brings beauty to everyday rituals. After all, coffee always tastes better in a handmade mug. Alongside developing my own collection and teaching ceramics I also work as a potter at Henry Holland Studio in Hackney.
