3 hours Class size 4 to 6 guests

£50 (£55 per guest when you book for 4+ guests, £50/guest for 4+ guests. £60 per class surcharge applies for private classes)

I am now running intimate private workshops tailored to your requirements for 1 or 2 people in central London (SW7). Get in touch to find a mutually available date. If your group is larger let's look at me coming to you.
Public workshops take place at a central Berwick location. These workshops need a minimum of 3 people to run. As ever, you will be fuelled by teas and/or coffee and biscuits. (If it's a private session for a special occasion, do let me know, and I'll bake a cake!)
Create a beautiful piece of textile art in this felting class for beginners using your own reference photo for inspiration.
Guided by your experienced teacher, you'll be shown how to lay out fibres to make a flat piece of felt as well as using a technique called carding to blend colours. Once you've laid out the fibres to form the structure of your piece, you'll be shown how to manipulate the fibres to create an image from your reference materials.
Lastly, you'll learn the wet felting techniques to transform all the loose fibres into a piece of cloth. You'll finish off your piece of textile art so that it's ready to frame, hang directly on your wall or gift to a loved one.
A lovely activity if you're looking for hen do ideas, birthday party options or if you're searching for a creative team building activity. Get your group together and learn to felt.
By the end of the workshop, you'll have mastered the basics of 2D wet felting and you'll have made your own unique work of art!
What you'll get

  • 5/5 from Grace French Marshall, attended Feb 2025: My mum absolutely loved this workshop and was so happy with what she managed to create, under Heather's guidance. A huge thank you!
  • 5/5 from Claire Shaw, attended Oct 2024: A most enjoyable afternoon and I'm delighted with my 2D felted seascape. A huge selection of coloured wools were provided and we were also shown how to mix different colours to make even more. Heather was a fabulous teacher, the whole experience was very therapeutic! The class took place in Heather's lovely home.
  • 5/5 from Isobel, attended Feb 2024: I booked a class with my friend as a gift, and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Heather sent an email well before the class with additional info and instructions on finding the venue and was very welcoming on arrival offering tea and biscuits. The instructions for the class were clear and the materials were good quality. The atmosphere was relaxed and we both came away with something we made that we really liked. Ideal!
  • 5/5 from Lynn, attended Jan 2024: Really enjoyed the class. Heather was an excellent teacher & host. The home bakes were a delightful added bonus. Would certainly recommend.
  • 5/5 from Julie Jackson-Hales, attended Sep 2023: Very enjoyable class. Vanessa explained everything really well and we came out with a bit of art. Very relaxing and the flapjack and tea were delicious!
  • 5/5 from Heather, attended Mar 2023: We loved this class. A really fun activity, well organised and taught by a lovely teacher who had even baked goodies for us. Even with no prior experience we produced felting that we were really pleased with. It was a very relaxed, enjoyable way to spend a Saturday morning. I’d definitely recommend and would book to do it again.
  • 5/5 from Sharon Bierer, attended Jan 2023: Laura and Barbara had a ball. They were both delighted with what they made and what they learnt about the processes. They had a good day out and felt they had been made very welcome. So sorry I was ill and missed the course.
  • 5/5 from Fritz Nothnagel, attended Jun 2022: All great. A wonderful way to spend a day. There was a generous supply of materials used for the class. A small intimate class with one on one attention. Perfect. I will definitely return for a more advanced tutorial. After viewing tutorials on line with no success this is the way to go. Thank you to Purr and Wag for a great day and delicious chocolate torte to end. Fritz.
  • 5/5 from Maya King, attended Apr 2022: This class was excellent and surpassed all of my expectations. Neither myself or my mum had ever done any felting before and we aren’t particularly artistically inclined. Heather was an excellent teacher and even made cake for us! She talked us through the process of creating the felt as we went, and provided us with everything we needed and every colour of felt under the sun. We were both able to produce a piece of felt that we were happy with thanks to heathers tuition. and now have the building blocks to be able to create more. We may book on to the course again, and we would recommend the course to anyone!
  • 5/5 from Paula Couzens, attended Apr 2022: Heather was a great teacher and even made cake for the class! Wet Felt Making was lots of fun. None of us (6) had ever done it before and we were shocked what we could produce and take home after 3hours. Would definitely recommend!
