  • 5/5 from Charis Fowler, attended Apr 2026: The class was relaxed but informative. I'd had a go at crochet before the workshop, so wasn't starting from scratch. This suited me much better than trying to learn from books or videos. It might have been nice for each of the learners to give their name at the start, not just Bev, our teacher.

  • 5/5 from Maureen Belshaw, attended Oct 2025: I did a beginners crochet workshop at Hobbycraft in Derby. The class stared spot on time. All materials were provided. Our tutor Deb was an absolutely great, she was very patient and explained everything perfectly. I am 74 and have tried numerous ways to learn how to crochet, yesterday it absolutely clicked and I managed to do a square Many thanks Deb for your patience.

  • 5/5 from Carol Walker, attended Oct 2025: Great class. Deb was very patient with us all. The class of 5 was full which must have been very difficult for her as we were all different levels and she was busy all of the time with us. However, she remained calm at all times and never rushed us. Might have been better is the class was a bit smaller. Need to practice now ready for the next class!
  • 5/5 from Rachel Reid, attended Aug 2025: Learn to crochet- beginners class. Excellent teacher (Miriam) who was very patient and kept checking that we each had the right technique at each stage. Course materials easy to follow and provided wool and hook adequate to learn with. Only quibble would be the thickness of the wool which kept splitting making it harder to practice the stitches. Overall a very worthwhile course which gave a good basis on which to begin crocheting.

Miriam (Derby store) was a fantastic teacher and had the patience of a saint as we fumbled our way through and all managed to create something that looked like the demo piece. The time flew and we were all surprised when it was the end of the lesson. Thanks again to Miriam, a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon was had by all.

  • 5/5 from Barbara Derbyshire, attended Dec 2024: Teacher (Deb) was great - very patient, showed us and then let us have a go. If we were stuck, she moved round and gave 1:1 assistance. There were 4 of us on the course, so plenty of 1:1 assistance if needed. We learnt double and treble crochet stitches - and moved between the two, in order to ensure we could still do it before we left.
