Jesmonite Workshop

Create your own trinket tray and coaster: jesmonite crafting class in Greater Manchester.

2.5 hours - 3 hours

Class size 1 to 18 (public classes), 4 to 20
  £38

If you've ever seen bold and beautiful items made from jesmonite in the shops or on socials and fancied them in your home, why not have a go at making your own?
During this workshop, you’ll have fun choosing a colour palette and creating your own pigmented jesmonite that you will crack into chips that form the terrazzo. You will then pour this fascinating material into silicon moulds to form a match strike pot and matching tealight holders.
Once the jesmonite has set, for the last part of the workshop you will sand and polish to reveal your terrazzo design.
Everything you need will be ready and waiting for you at the workshop, and you'll have the full support of your friendly tutor throughout, so no worries about getting stuck. You'll leave the class with your stunning jesmonite items, plus all the know-how to make more in the future.
Please note that there will be a 45 minute drying time during this workshop where you can enjoy a drink and snacks.

  • 5/5 from Helen Pickavance, attended Jan 2026: The teacher was really good at explaining the processes, easy to get on with, kind and helpful. I'm really pleased with the pieces that I made and would definitely take another class with the same teacher.
  • 5/5 from Lynda Buckley, attended Feb 2025: Lovely afternoon. Well organised. Nice opportunity to chat with like minded people.
  • 3/5 from Anonymised ClassBento customer, attended Dec 2023: I liked the items I made and the class was easy to follow. I wasn't sure about the venue (The Slug and Lettuce) and it might have made the class more enjoyable if there was more engagement around the craft itself, and a nicer venue! The workshop leaders were very friendly. But to be honest I would look for a workshop in a more craft/ art based setting if I was paying this kind of price.
  • 5/5 from David Moore, attended May 2023: Really fun workshop! 100% recommend Had a great time under the expert tutelage of Ella and Vicky! We booked a private class for some team building with work mates. Everything was taken care of the location was great, all the materials were provided and we took home some really impressive items. I was pleasantly surprised that I could make something so good The team are already thinking about booking another class!
  • 5/5 from Ben, attended May 2023: Had a brill afternoon at the class. Lovely friendly teacher, relaxed atmosphere and a really nice item to take home. Have wanted to use jesmonite for ages and this didn’t disappoint. Highly recommend!

We’re passionate about craft but being able to make things you’d actually be proud to show off in your home or give as a gift. We also try to offer a range of activities that are a bit different, away from the norm but still being accessible for any level of craft skill.
Common Room is run by Vicky & Ella. Vicky is a teacher by day but also runs a perinatal mental health support group and is passionate about positive mental health. Ella has a creative background in photography and interior design and also runs her own business Ella's Garden. They've got a mutual love of craft and so decided to combine their skills and set up Common Room to facilitate other people to make and create.
