Join this Shiny Boots gilding workshop in Manchester at The Good Clothes Show on 7th November and give your favourite boots or shoes a high-fashion glow-up. It's a fun, high-energy way to switch off and bring a burst of joy into your week, all while upcycling pieces already in your wardrobe rather than buying new.
This is more than a craft class. You'll work with multi-coloured imitation gold leaf foils to transform plain leather or faux leather into something spectacular. The process is wonderfully satisfying, from the careful application of the leaf to the reveal of your shimmering new design. It's a mindful, tactile escape in a supportive, social setting, whether you're hoping to meet fellow creators or simply want an hour or two to unwind.
No advanced skills are needed. This class is made for total beginners, so all you need is a love of sparkle and a willingness to have fun. It's a great place to start if you're interested in:
  • Wellbeing and stress relief – Lose yourself in the rhythmic, tactile process of gilding.

During the class, you'll receive:
  • All specialised gilding materials – Adhesives, brushes and a vast array of dazzling foils.
  • Expert, step-by-step guidance – Delivered in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.
Please bring your own leather or faux leather footwear or bags. Gilding won't work on suede or fabric/canvas.
Please note: The Shiny Boots workshop fee is separate and doesn't include entry tickets to The Good Clothes Show itself.

Knowledge required
No skills needed!
What to bring
Bring your own leather or faux leather shoes, boots, trainers, or crocs. They can be pre-loved or brand new. The metallic leaf foils do not stick very well to fabric, canvas, or suede, so I do not recommend you bring those types of shoes to the workshop.

I have also held private shiny boots parties in homes across the North West for those special occasions. It turns out that after 40 years of work, the most rewarding thing I've built is a community that isn't afraid to sparkle!
