Children’s Splatter Painting Experience
Big Colour. Brilliant Mess. Their Own Artwork to Keep.
Give your child the freedom to splash, drip, flick and throw paint inside a real working artist’s studio—without having to clean up the mess at home.
During this energetic one-hour experience, children create their own colourful splatter painting on a 30 × 40 cm stretched canvas. A DBS-checked practising professional artist will help them choose a personalised colour palette, demonstrate exciting techniques and guide them as they turn every splash into an artwork they’ll be proud of.
No previous art experience is needed. Children can simply enjoy experimenting, expressing themselves and seeing their ideas come to life.
£39 per child
One-hour artist-led experience
Suitable for ages 7–16
Small, supervised groups
All materials and protective equipment included
Spaces are limited to keep the experience comfortable, supportive and enjoyable for every child.
Why Children Love It
This isn’t an ordinary sit-down painting class. Children are encouraged to move, experiment and enjoy the excitement of creating with paint.
They can:
  • Choose colours that reflect their personality
  • Try pouring, dripping, flicking and splashing techniques
  • Build layers, patterns and bold colour combinations
  • Create freely with guidance available whenever they need it
  • Take home an original artwork made entirely by them
It’s colourful, energetic and wonderfully messy—but still carefully supervised from beginning to end.
Why Parents Love It
Your child enjoys the kind of creative mess you probably don’t want happening in your living room, while we provide the materials, guidance, protective clothing and clean-up.
The experience is ideal for:
  • A memorable weekend treat
  • School holiday activities
  • Creative birthday gifts
  • Siblings or friends attending together
  • Children who love art and trying something different
  • Young people who enjoy active, hands-on activities
  • Parents looking for a supervised drop-off activity in Wimbledon
They leave with more than a painting: they gain a sense of achievement from creating something completely their own.
Everything Is Included
All they need to bring is their imagination—and clothes that can handle the occasional colourful splash.
What Happens During the Experience?
1. Get Ready
Children are welcomed into the studio and helped into their protective clothing and safety equipment.
2. Choose Their Colours
The artist helps each child create a personalised palette using colours they genuinely love.
3. Learn the Techniques
Children are shown how to pour, drip, flick, splash and layer paint to create different marks and effects.
4.Create Their Artwork
It’s time to experiment. Children create their own individual painting while the artist offers encouragement and guidance throughout.
5. Admire the Finished Piece
At the end, there is time to look at their creation and take photographs before the painting is left to dry.
A Supervised Drop-Off Experience
This is a children-only class, so parents do not need to remain in the studio.
You may relax in our communal waiting area or leave and return at collection time. Please make sure we have your correct contact details before the experience begins.
If you would like to paint alongside your child, please choose one of our Private or our 1-hour splatter Experience instead.
What Should My Child Wear?
We provide protective overalls, gloves, shoe covers and safety glasses.
Splatter painting is naturally messy, so children should arrive in comfortable older clothes and shoes. Small amounts of paint may occasionally reach clothing or personal belongings.
Taking the Artwork Home
Splatter paintings normally need approximately three days to dry fully.
You can:
  • Collect the artwork from the studio once it is dry after 3 days
  • Arrange your own courier
  • Ask us about delivery
  • Purchase a £5 takeaway box and take the canvas home on the day
Artwork must be collected within 14 days of the experience.

Parking
Free on-site parking is available when your vehicle registration is entered during checkout. For weekend experiences, parking must be registered in advance because the Wimbledon Art Studios office is closed at weekends.
After passing through the black gate, turn left and wait by the yellow studio entrance. Your artist will meet you there shortly before the class begins.
Arrival Information
Please arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled start time. This gives us enough time to complete the required forms and help your child put on their protective equipment.
Classes begin promptly. Children arriving 10 minutes or more after the start time may not be admitted, as late entry can disrupt the experience for the rest of the group.
