Join Marina from The Fabric Folk for a hands-on darning workshop that's as feel-good as it is useful. Whether you're planning a hen party or a private gathering, this 2.5-hour session offers a refreshing, wholesome way to catch up with your favourite people.
You'll start with a gentle introduction to the art of mending, exploring simple techniques and tools designed to spark your imagination. The rest of the workshop is all about getting stuck in. Marina will guide you step by step as you master how to darn your knits, ensuring you have hands-on help every step of the way.
There’s no need to fret about previous sewing experience; this low-pressure environment is perfect for first-timers. We provide a friendly, supportive setting where the focus is on fun rather than perfection, making it easy to switch off and enjoy the process.
It’s a wonderful way to rekindle your creativity while learning a valuable, lifelong skill. You'll finish the session with a mended garment and the confidence to keep your wardrobe in use for longer, walking away with a sense of accomplishment and a renewed connection to your clothes.
What you'll get
  • A needle and thread to keep
  • A sample sock for darning, if you don't have anything to darn but would still like to lear the technique
  • Contrast coloured yarn
  • 3-step illustrated instructions to take home

I started The Fabric Folk, a creative textile reuse non-profit, because I couldn’t ignore how much perfectly good fabric was being thrown away — both locally and worldwide. I wanted to create a fun, accessible way for people to reconnect with textiles through care, creativity and practical skills.
In my hands-on workshops, I teach sewing, embroidery and mending, helping people rediscover the joy of making and repairing. Whether you’re picking up a needle for the first time or returning to forgotten skills, sessions are welcoming, empowering and rooted in sustainability.
At the heart of The Fabric Folk is a simple mission: to keep fabric out of landfill while supporting mindfulness and wellbeing through craft. Every workshop plays a part in creating a future where nothing gets wasted.
