Mould Making Workshop

Make a simple plaster mold for slip casting and press molding in clay.

4 hours Class size 1 to 8 guests       £90 (PayPal Pay in 3 available)

Join this plaster mould-making workshop in North London and learn how to create a simple mould for slip casting and press moulding in clay – a brilliant skill for both functional and sculptural ceramics. Over four hands-on hours, you'll make your own plaster mould of an object of your choice, ready to reproduce in clay through slip casting or by pressing plastic clay into it.
You'll be in expert hands throughout, with guidance on choosing the right object to ensure your mould is achievable within the time available. If you bring along something simple, like a plate or small bowl, you may even get the chance to make more than one mould.
Please note: this is a messy process, so wear overalls or old clothes and shoes you don't mind getting dirty. Latex gloves and dust masks are provided, though if you have sensitive skin, you may want to bring your own barrier cream. You'll also need to bring an object no larger than 30cm in length and breadth that's non-porous and not precious – plastic toys, ceramic wares, fruit, vegetables or something you've sculpted yourself in wet clay all work well. Get in touch beforehand to chat through your object choice.
