1.5 hours Class size 1 to 5 guests       £29

Fall in love with crochet by creating a classic granny square! You’ll be able to combine beautiful colours to stitch this traditional crochet design, perfect for setting you up for so many other projects. Granny squares can be used to make blankets, garments and more – we’re here to help you get started with your first one.

With the help of an Hobbycraft Artisan, you’ll learn how to crochet a granny square by using all the key techniques. You’ll use double and treble stitches, as well as learning how to decipher a granny square pattern and how to change yarn colours.

There’s a kit included with the workshop to give you everything you need for the project. Within the 90-minute session, you’ll be able to create one granny square, though you can continue to practice making more once you’ve got to grips with all the skills. The kit even features a pattern for a granny square blanket to help you continue your adventure in crochet!

This workshop is the perfect way to grow your crochet confidence, with tips and support from a pro! It’s ideal if you already have basic knowledge of the stitches but are looking to refresh yourself or develop further.

  • 5/5 from Sara Baillie, attended Dec 2024: Such a helpful and inspiring class. Love it, thank you so much.
  • 3/5 from Yvonne Hall, attended Feb 2024: We attended the beginners guide a few months previously and found it really good. As a result booked onto the granny square session. However the instructor was not aware and started to teach us the basics again. We had the same colour wool as last time (disappointing). I’m sure had she prepared for granny squares we would have worked on thinner wool. The advert also said we would have a free blanket pattern which we never did nor did we have instructions to take home as a reminder of how to make a square. Overall very disappointing.
