Begin your sewing journey with a calm, structured four-week course in Woolwich, designed especially for beginners.
In this beginner-friendly course, you'll learn the foundations of sewing in a supportive environment with Ardelle, a bridalwear designer and founder of Ardelle Academy. Whether you've never used a sewing machine before, feel nervous about starting, or want to build a stronger foundation, this course will help you grow in confidence week by week.
Across the sessions, you'll be introduced to the sewing machine, learn how to handle fabric, practise essential stitches, and develop the practical skills needed to continue sewing independently. Ardelle will guide you step by step, helping you understand the tools, materials, and techniques involved in a clear and encouraging way.
This course is ideal if you want more than a one-off taster and would like time to practise, ask questions, and build your skills gradually. Ardelle brings a couture and bridalwear background to her teaching, so the experience is practical and approachable while still rooted in real garment-making knowledge. Her work has been worn at major international award shows, and she now shares her expertise with students who want to learn in a beautiful, uplifting way.
No previous experience is needed to join. You'll finish the final week with a newfound sense of self-reliance, a clearer understanding of the basics, and a solid platform for continuing your handmade projects.

I began my journey in fashion with a love for creating garments that feel personal, considered and beautifully made.
After studying at University of the Arts London and completing my Master’s at Kingston University, I launched my fashion business in 2019. Since then, my bespoke couture work has been worn at international award shows including the BET Awards, BRIT Awards, The Walpole Luxury British Awards, MOBO Awards and more.
Today, my work sits largely within bridalwear, where I design pieces for women during some of the most meaningful moments of their lives. Bridal design has deepened my appreciation for craftsmanship — the quiet details, the construction, the fit, the fabric, and the patience involved in making something truly special.
I started Ardelle Academy in 2024 as a way to share the knowledge I’ve built over the years. I know sewing can feel overwhelming at first, especially when you are faced with machines, patterns, fabric choices and unfamiliar techniques. My passion is helping students move through that uncertainty with calm, supportive guidance.
I love teaching because I get to watch people surprise themselves. There is something beautiful about seeing a student go from “I don’t think I can do this” to creating something with their own hands.
My classes are gentle, practical and encouraging, with a focus on helping you build real confidence from the very beginning of your sewing journey.
