Bushcraft Knife Metalworking Course

Spend two days in London forging your own custom bushcraft knife and create a tool built for a lifetime of use. You'll work with high-carbon steel to craft a full-tang knife to a shape and pattern entirely of your design – taking time and care to ensure it fits your exact requirements, from blade length and depth to shape, finish, handle size, feel, and grip. With a typical blade length of 6–7" depending on the style you choose, you'll end up with a functional statement piece that's built to last.Expert instructors will guide you through the process with live demonstrations, teaching you the skills and techniques needed to produce a stunning, functional blade. You'll make real decisions about materials, design, and finish – creating something that's truly yours from the ground up.Day One

• Introduction, guide to workshop safety, PPE, and use of equipment
• Selection of steel and handle materials
• Crafting the blade and handle shape from the stock steel
• Texturing and faceting the knife blank
• Initial bevel grinding
• Heat treating (including normalising, hardening and tempering)

Day Two

• Final blade grinding and shaping
• Hand sanding and finishing the blade
• Handle pre-shaping and fitting
• Glue-up of the handles
• Handle finishing, including final shaping, sanding and polishing
• Blade sharpening and testing

Over two days, you'll transform raw steel into a bespoke bushcraft knife tailored to exactly how you want it to work and feel. By the end of day two, you'll have a tool that's built to last a lifetime – something you've shaped with your own hands, made to your exacting specifications, and ready for whatever adventures come next.Please note

• This is a non-forging class. Participants will design their knife from a length of high-carbon steel and will not be using a hammer/anvil on this class.
• Each day will begin at 1000, and run until approximately 1630.
• Due to space and safety issues, spectators are not permitted on these courses.
• The age limit for attendance on any course involving the forging and making of knives or axes is 18+. There are no exceptions to this rule, and ID verification may be requested prior to course commencement in the event the participant looks under 21.

• At the end of the course you will go home with a fully finished and sharp hunting knife that you have made yourself, suitable for a lifetime of use.
• Tea / Coffee / Biscuits will be provided. There are many local shops/cafes nearby for lunch.
