Spend the day learning all about bushcraft and immerse yourself in the beautiful nature of Frylands Wood with this fun, mindful retreat!

Your expert bushcraft instructors will kick things off with a warm welcome and some team building games, giving you the perfect opportunity to get to know your group a little better. Then it'll be time to enjoy a foraging walk as you learn all about the beautiful plants that can be used for food or medicinal purposes and get busy gathering the ingredients for your lunch!

Once you reach base camp, you'll enjoy an invigorating session of Vinyasa Yoga and forest meditation, which will bring aliveness to your body and help you connect with the stunning nature around you. After an energising snack break, it'll be time to master an essential bushcraft skill — fire lighting!

Your teacher will demonstrate several techniques, from modern-day matches to more primitive methods, before you gather your wood and have a go yourself. The group will need to cooperate as you prepare and cook pizza toasties, chocolate bananas and s’mores over the fire, ready to sit back and enjoy the feast together!

Next up, you'll learn some aromatherapy and herbal remedy basics as you create a medicinal salve to take home and pick an afternoon activity to enjoy with your group. From exhilarating orienteering and re-energising forest bathing to soothing guided relaxation, you're sure to feel more at one with nature no matter what you choose.

At the end of the class, your group will partake in a closing circle around the fire to reflect and give thanks to the experience. Whether you're looking for fun things to do in London with friends or unique birthday party ideas for a partner, this retreat is sure to leave you with a whole host of new bushcraft skills!

Escape to a countryside experience while still in the capital with the only bushcraft company based in London. Offering fun, friendly, hands-on bushcraft courses for team building, birthdays, schools, birthdays, community groups, and more

Wendy Paton’s interest in bushcraft started as a young child. She grew up in Australia and has always been fascinated by the skills and knowledge that allowed indigenous Australians to survive for thousands of years off the land. She loves returning to her home country regularly to see family and friends and having time for her favourite pastime; snorkelling and diving for shellfish.

As well as being experienced in bushcraft in the UK, Wendy has led 21 expeditions worldwide. She has foraged for wild rhubarb in Mongolia, eaten live ants in Ecuador, gone mud fishing in Vietnam, tracked with the Kalahari Bushmen in Botswana, caught and eaten frogs for breakfast in Laos and picked enough wild blueberries in Ecuador to turn herself blue. These experiences bring real depth of knowledge to the bushcraft and survival skills taught by London Bushcraft.

She believes that bushcraft is very much needed in a society that has, in some ways, drifted away from its ancestral and natural roots. It provides people with an opportunity to connect with the world around them more fully - and sometimes also a part of themselves they have never come into contact with before.

Wendy is supported by a large and experienced team with a deep knowledge of bushcraft and working with groups.
