What you'll do
Discover how easy it is to get started in brush lettering! It’s the perfect way to personalise every project, so learning basic brush lettering techniques is sure to take your creative know-how to a new level.
You won’t need any brush lettering or art experience. The workshop will introduce basic mark-making exercises and simple techniques so that even complete beginners will be able to get to grips with this craft.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll know how to use varying line thicknesses to style your letters and be able to apply that to the whole alphabet. With our Hobbycraft Colleague on hand with expert guidance, you can also learn how to add foliage flourishes with the pens included in your craft kit.
Once the workshop’s over, you’re all set to start personalising papercraft projects and gift wrap designs with your newly acquired brush lettering skills. Add any words and sentiments you choose with stylish letters handwritten by you.
Please note, our workshop spaces in some stores are located in open areas and we will endeavour to minimise interruption from other crafters.

Our teacher Danielle was brilliant. She was very knowledgeable and taught us how to simplify some of the letters as I was struggling with some of the fancier script. She was also incredibly patient with me.
I loved the fact that even though we didn’t pay for one on one, my friend and I were the only ones on the workshop, so we got a great learning experience tailored to our needs!
We were given a lovely metallic brush pen set, which were very easy to use and nice colours, letter guides and a full pad of paper to practice with when we got home.
I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn the basics!

My friend and I really enjoyed the workshop. Danielle was very helpful and gave us good feedback which included little tricks to help us get the desired effect with the brush pens. We found that an hour wasn't really long enough, maybe 90mins would be better

Danielle was lovely. We went through lesson at our own pace, not rushed at all. Box containing everything we needed for class and use at home afterwards was comprehensive. With equipment we brought home class was good value for money.

It was lovely to do a workshop ‘in person’ and it was rather mindful to try brush lettering, yet i feel it could be maybe longer so we could try more letters and create tags or cards as well

Good introductory class to brush lettering it was actually more difficult to do than first thought. Practice made perfect and the tutor was patient giving tips on how to improve. This was my first Hobbycraft workshop & I loved the way the materials were packaged. I will definitely be trying out another craft workshop.

Danielle was great teacher. Took her time to shoe us different ways of lettering. Course was great value for money, I learnt how to control the brush pens while writing, venue was spacious and plenty of room to work good size group not too big. Kit provide was lovely good selection of tools to use.

We had a really lovely time at the Brushlettering course on Saturday. An hour is long enough to learn the basics and to have plenty of practises, even with me and my mate chattering constantly. Danielle led the session well and happily showed us examples. The starter packs are lovely and the quality of the pens and paper used are great. Would highly recommend.

My friend and I did the lettering class with Koby…great teaching, lovely supply of pens, paper, labels etc all included in the box. Much laughter at our total inability to get it right, much patience from Koby, we had fun, he probably thought we were batty and I think he might be right. Well worth it. We got to our class and where greeted by coby, they were welcoming and made us feel comfortable.
The class itself was set out well and started with the basic techniques before building up to doing joined you writing! I feel confident to go home and be able to do practice joined up words.
