Botanical Cyanotypes Workshop

A cyanotype workshop in London blending botanical creativity and traditional printing!

2.5 hours Class size 1 to 15 guests       £65

Join us for a cyanotype workshop in London. Together, we'll explore both historical and contemporary examples, discussing how the cyanotype process works and why it has become so closely associated with creating beautiful botanical images.
You'll then dive into creating your own prints and botanical creations -- no previous experience required. You'll be guided every step of the way in a relaxed and supportive space.
What to expect:
  • Experiment by creating a series of A5 cyanotype exposures.
  • Explore a wide variety of plant materials, allowing you to discover what you like best.
  • If you've purchased the Botanical Drinks Package, you'll make and enjoy a selection of drinks inspired by your botanical creations.
  • After creating 2-3 A5 prints, you'll build on your skills and move on to larger pieces.
  • Work on large collaborative cyanotypes (A2 or A1) in groups of at least two.
  • Prepare your own final piece, choosing from: an A2 paper artwork, a 55 x 55cm silk scarf or wall hanging, or a tote bag!
All paper works are created on premium 200gsm+ Fabriano paper containing at least 50% cotton, specially treated for the cyanotype process.
Your completed cyanotypes will be displayed together, giving everyone the opportunity to view and celebrate each other's creations.
All finished dry work will be carefully packaged for you to take home. Any pieces that are still drying will be clearly labelled and can either be collected later or posted to you at no additional cost, with postage included in the workshop fee.
What you'll get
Your collection of unique cyanotype artworks and botanical creations, including:
  • At least 2 A5 cyanotype prints on paper.
  • At least 2 larger cyanotype prints on paper (A4 and/or A3).
  • The opportunity to participate in a collaborative A2 or A1 cyanotype. One participant from each group will take the completed collaborative artwork home.

I'm an artist and workshop facilitator whose practice centres on analogue photography, experimental photographic processes and artist filmmaking. I hold a BA in Fine Art, a Master's degree in Artist Filmmaking and Moving Image, and a PGCE in Lifelong Learning.
In recent years I've specialised in cyanotype workshops, which have become a natural extension of my own artistic practice. I love introducing people to this historic photographic process because it offers such a tactile and rewarding creative experience.
One aspect that makes my workshops a little different is the atmosphere I aim to create. As cyanotype has such strong connections to nature and botanical study, I weave these themes throughout the experience. I often serve botanical-inspired refreshments, creating a calm, immersive environment that encourages people to slow down, connect with the process and enjoy a creative escape from everyday life.
Alongside my artistic practice, I've been running creative workshops for almost ten years in mainstream education.
Over the years I've taught hundreds of students and workshop participants, helping people of all abilities discover new creative skills.
I'm currently based in a studio in Camberwell, where I continue to develop my work as an artist. My long-term ambition is to establish a permanent workshop space where I can build a regular programme of creative events and contribute to a thriving artistic community.
